Something that is not mentioned is that had the Special Counsel Robert Mueller had shown a little spine and had placed the country ahead of his republican buddies and had openly and publicly denounced the Presidents criminality we wont be having this Ukraine scandal. But Mueller cowardly decided to obey a clearly corrupt AG and hide behind legalese in a way that could be spun as a exoneration, and giving Trump the feeling of invulnerability to engage in even more crass criminality.

There’s a general consensus that Pelosi is a masterful tactician and knows how to play people, but I’m not ready to stamp mythical status on her just yet. Her communication about this process to date has been lacking, and a clearer presentation of the costs of impeachment would’ve served her better in this moment I think.

You’re not wrong, but I can imagine the GOP and the national press attributing her motives to purely partisan ones and a dislike of T-rump if done eariler, as amazing as that may seem. This is despite the fact that they had impeachment in the works for HRC once she took office.
He probably should have been impeached before the end of January, 2017 for violations of the emoluments clause.
Pelosi wants to bury the f****r with just too much material for them to dismiss.

No. She knows how to count. The red state democrats are scared to death to vote on impeaching Trump and also she wants to avoid the embarrassment of Red State Senators (Manchin, Tester,Jones) voting to acquit Trump (which they will) .
One of the political mysteries of the US system is that democrats from GOP leaning states vote just like republicans, red-state voters are dammed, even when they want change they get the same crap.

First, if things get bad for ttump, Turtle will volunteer to try him and replace him with Pence. Second, I highly doubt anything will hang around rethugs’ necks. They’ve voted for evil things countless times but still haven’t faced any consequence.

It’s about fucking time. Plunge the stake into the vampire before it’s too late.
A formal impeachment inquiry on this record, which includes WH stonewalling of disclosures, should make a difference in the campaign. More importantly, it’s the House’s duty to proceed on this record.

Whatever the specifics, the path towards impeachment, whether or not it leads to actual removal (or resignation, or Donnie dropping dead of apoplexy while on the Twitter Crapper), was always going to be about first building sufficient political and public support for it, and then actually pursuing it formally.
We’re not at that point yet but this helps accelerate the process of getting there, a lot. Hopefully Dems don’t wait for this to play out on its own and take full control of this story and approach it aggressively, along with all the other crimes he and his cronies committed and continue to commit.
An aside, their attacks on Greta Thunberg don’t help. Good.
