Lev Parnas further tied President Trump’s legal team to his actions in the Ukraine pressure campaign, saying that attorneys for Trump in addition to Rudy Giuliani were “in the loop.”
I wonder if Schiff, et. al. have some other bombshell information that they will reveal during the trial. Something else that entwines Trump’s legal team to the Ukraine pressure campaign, or maybe a few Senators.
We really, really need Parnas to testify about this stuff under oath, and for documentation to be produced that backs up the things he is saying. We need other people to confirm it. He doesn’t have the best reputation, and he’s trying to save his own skin, so he’s not trustworthy by himself. It helps that the stuff on his phone came out, that’s backing up his story, but we need more of that. It all hangs together though, and it sure seems like a lot of people were involved, even more than we thought, and the reasons it was happening back up the rest of the investigation.
Honestly, I think the most damage will be done if the Republicans let Trump off and then we get more bombshells like this from a continuing investigation…watching that hit the news over and over, seeing how they let this go when they already had the knowledge, and seeing people like Graham, Nunes, Sekulow, and who knows who else dragged in, will make the whole thing much more damaging than Watergate. The corruption in the Republican party has reached the highest levels of the party, for the good of the nation it needs to be exposed and squashed.
Another loose end here is Dowd. Trump waives the potential conflict, and Dowd (according to Parnas) promptly comes to visit Parnas in jail and tries to convince him to take one for the team instead of rolling over on trump and saving his own skin. IANAL, but my impression is that giving legal advice to person A that’s actually designed to benefit person B is one of the things that can get you in trouble. (And that’s before we get to any implicit pardon-dangling or suchlike.)
Don’t know if we can trust anything he says, any of his spin on his own details, but need to focus more on deciphering the contemporaneous texts/messages themselves.
In response to the editor’s blog concerning Parnas being involved prior to Guiliani, my recollection is that Parnas and Furman were trying to get in on the gas business via Burisma and were working with a Republican donor to orchestrate a deal. All the parties knew Amb. Yovanovitch might be a problem with this so Parnas had his own reason for her being gone if she would interfere with this action. Parnas, like Michael Cohen, is no saint, but they are responsible for opening up the shades on some of what has been going on. Like any case against organized crime, sources of information will be coming forward with unclean hands. If they didn’t, they wouldn’t be privy to the information.
Why, because according to Parnas Nunes was in on what was going down and yet he wasn’t recused from the Intel. Committee hearings.
Now if there were someone checking out that fast talking loud mouth Georgian Collins…
