Well Mr and Mrs Vance will only be on the US base, there will be no mucking around the people of Greenland. And this leads me to ask my perennial question: How much money is this trip costing us?
More seriously, I still think it’s worthwhile to point out every illegal or unconstitutional action by the Trump regime. Otherwise, we normalize their lawbreaking in the same way many media outlets are currently doing.
But unless we show evidence of vast - and I mean vast - political reforms when Trump is gone, why would they? We elected Trump twice! Why would Canada or any European country trust us not to do it again, with someone worse. We’re not going back to the way it was. As Carney said, it’s gone, over. And it’s about time the Democrats here started embracing that.
Back in the day, the Office of Special Counsel might remark that there is a Hatch Act problem with this.
ETA - beg your pardon, I didn’t see your post at 71. Anyway, it falls to the MSM and folks like us to call out stuff like this, since the OSC and Pam won’t.
This was linked on Daily Kos. Good on Governor Hobbs for allowing the tribal flags to be displayed in the state capitol after they were removed due the new flag policy implemented by the Department of Veterans Affairs which limits the display of the types of flags at VA facilities. A lot of the animus from Trump towards native Americans goes back decades after the Indian gaming act was passed which was sponsored by John McCain. He claimed that they had an unfair advantage over “legitimate casino operators” like him. He even sent Roger Stone to trash talk and lobby against them.
This is grown out of the decision against Harvard admissions several years ago. Harvard’s practices promoting diversity were found to be descriminating against other minorities.
Harvard had to stop promoting diversity, which resulted in the totally predictable drop in minority enrollment in subsequent years.
So now DEI = racist white people who are too scared, lazy, or incompetent to compete in a level playing field with other people not like them.
Yes, the Greenlanders are so burnt up to join the US that none of the residents or businesses in Nuuk could be persuaded to welcome a visit from the Vice President’s party.
Which isn’t to sat the regime couldn’t find some Curveball equivalent to help justify their invasion.
Am I missing something or does the plan apparently call for a completely new structure for the United States, which will consist only of the White House and private enterprises–and technical colleges–run entirely by heterosexual conservative Christian white guys and AI; and Trump-brand golf courses operated by robots?
I guess there’ll have to be rather a large number of locked facilities where the white heterosexual conservative Christian women are kept for purposes of the men’s sexual recreation, breeding, procreation, the required semi-annual cosmetic botoxing sand surgeries, and–once a woman reaches age 30–child rearing and possibly cooking, although AI will probably do that better.
I don’t think the nation has awakened to the fact our laws will only be enforced at the state level, and even at that tier only selectively. Pam Bondi and the DOJ are not going to do anything that penalizes a Republican, or those in Trump’s circle of influence. Right now Federal law only applies to everyone outside of the MAGA camp. As said above, does anyone think Habba would be prosecuted for violating the Hatch Act? She can go out on the stump in coming elections, spending every spare moment campaigning for Republicans, and she’ll never be touched for it.
GOP Congressional majorities are razor thin. GOP officeholders have the greenlight to break all the Federal laws they want. You think Bondi is calling Trump and telling him she’s opening an investigation into a GOP House member in Florida, or elsewhere?
