Silly, I know, to ask what actual potential crime DOJ is investigating, but still wtf? Did congress outlaw DEI programs, and I missed it? Is this just “We hate DEI so we’re gonna root it out”?

Trump is a bit back on his heels. And he absolutely despises being defied, or denied. Do not be surprised if he takes Greenland, by force. Just what are the Danes to do it Trump sends 10,000 troops to the island to occupy and “police” all the critical infrastructure, roads, and ports? It’s coming if they don’t fold and sign over the island. Trump won’t sit still for the embarrassment of being thwarted. You don’t tell Trump what to do, he tells you what to do. And there’s a helluva lot of resentment building up in that addled mind of his because of all the judges blocking him. He has to vent that anger somewhere. He’ll take it out on Greenland and Denmark.

That’s because it’s a violation of the Hatch Act. Per the DOJ’s rules:
All Department of Justice employees are subject to the Hatch Act, 5 U.S.C. 7323(a) and 7324(a), which generally prohibits Department employees from engaging in partisan political activity while on duty, in a federal facility or using federal property. Political activity is activity directed toward the success or failure of a political party, candidate for partisan political office, or partisan political group. The statute carries serious penalties including REMOVAL from federal employment.
US Attorneys are in the ‘further restricted’ category, meaning they can’t engage in political activity even in their off-duty time.
Habba seems to have happily violated this rule on her first day as an interim US Attorney.
