We did not send him there to do the right thing or whatever he said he was doing

When things are this rigid shit starts breaking.

We did not send him there to do the right thin
[…]We sent him there to represent us.

However disagreeable you may find this, there is internal consistency at least.

Morons. That’s exactly what they elected him to do, and that’s exactly the way the system was designed to work. Our Senators and Representatives represent us, but they are allowed (and expected!) to vote in the way they think best. They are the ones on site, they have more information, and they were elected to make the tough choices. Not to be some kind of robotic regurgitator of local Party policy statements.

Burr: My party’s leadership has chosen loyalty to one man over the core principles of the Republican Party…

And the one man they chose is a pathological liar devoid of Christian values.

Pretty bold confession there. The “we” being the PA GOP sent their man to do their bidding instead of even a nod to the PA voters who might have had their own reasons, including doing the right thing “or whatever”.

Center-leaning Republicans are contemplating or actually leaving the party, while hard right Republicans are censuring and primarying the moderate GOP politicians. They may be setting up a huge blue wave in 2022 when all the former simply can’t vote for the candidates chose by the latter and either stay home or vote Dem. It will be interesting to watch, that’s for sure.

Also, these state parties should not have the power to censure anyone. They are not part of the government.

And while the Senators and Reps run for election as a member of a political party, they are elected by, and must represent, their entire constituency, whether a Congressional district or an entire State. Just as the President is supposed to be the President of all the people, not just those of his own party.

I’m feeling like a not-very-proud Pennsylvanian this morning.

Well, at least I don’t live in Washington County.

The opposite of the right thing is the wrong thing. They have what looks like a good idea of what that means. They are hiding it, letting it get lost in their rhetoric. But it is there.

I disagree. They should have that power. They’re a private organization, and can do whatever they like, as long as it’s legal.

But what they do should be ignored, because who gives a rat’s ass?

“We did not send him there to vote his conscience. We did not send him there to do the right thing or whatever he said he was doing …We sent him there to represent us.”

“And since we have no conscience, he therefore does not represent us.”

Republicans seem to not understand that people elected are supposed to represent everyone in their district or state, not just the republican primary voters who voted for them.

Honesty. How…refreshing.

That has to be the most damning thing I have heard yet out of this whole disturbing mess.

However, it is the most definitely representative and honest statement of the GQP.

It’s appalling.

Yeah, well you sent him there to freaking represent you. And that’s what he did to the best of his judgement. It’s called representative government. You cast your vote, you take your chances until the next election.

The fools that still want to hang with Mango Pus next election are free to vote. My SWA guess is there will be a new cult leader or two by then.

So… Nothing’s changed…

Not only that, but he represents all of the people in the state — not just the whack-a-doodles. Moron.
