In a Washington Post op-ed published on Wednesday night, former Navy Secretary Richard Spencer torched President Donald Trump for his repeated interference in the Eddie Gallagher case.
It’s also interesting that Trump has no concept of order and discipline, since Mafia bosses don’t/didn’t take kindly to overstepping one’s authority. It’s like he’s never ever saw “Goodfellas”.
“I came to believe that Trump’s interest in the case stemmed partly from the way the defendant’s lawyers and others had worked to keep it front and center in the media,” Spencer wrote.
It’s simpler than this.
tRUMP sees that:
o - there are far more enlisted men than officers, enlisted troops are about eighty percent of the Army for instance
o - enlisted men typically despise the officer corp and resent taking orders or at least they say they do when talking amongst their peers.
o - tRUMP will do whatever he can to get their votes.
What cadet bones spurs did last week could ultimately lead to a break down in the chain of command. Want an undisciplined military?
Watch the opening scene from Gladiator where the Roman Army meets the Germanic tribes. That’s what you’ll get. (hint…tRUMP’S military won’t be the Romans)
Trump has trouble with the “ethical” part as it applies to anything. Although to be fair, he only acts unethically when he figures he cannot get away with acting outright illegally.
Not to end the conversation but I’ve never, that I recall, heard him demonstrate any understanding of any abstract concept at all. He might have lucid moments in private but for all the public verbiage, not once.
Got much experience with people going through dementia? I’m acquiring some. They can surprise you. Just being open to the idea since I’m not behind those closed doors and am not trying to be.
Meanwhile, the “warfighters” who support Dotard likely have their stateside family’s living in mold infested military housing, while living on food stamps…
The next irony to come down the pike will likely be the appointment of Jared “Full Metal Jackass” Kushner to improve base housing, who will, of course, select the Kushner Companies LLC as the best contractor for the job.
Experience with dementia? Not much, but i’ll get there soon enough. Seen it among friends, but always kept in the periphery. My own mom had suffered a bit, but she died (thankfully???) before it could set in to any significant degree. But, both Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s runs in my family. Being a survivor of TBI makes me even more susceptible to both. Looking forward to it.
Trump is giving yet more evidence that being a two-bit grifter is not compatible with military values, even for those who are otherwise traditional conservatives. The guy is simply unfit for command.
I hope you are right about that - sometimes (on my bad days), I think that, despite his obvious total lack of humanity, he does have an understanding of what a large part of America really is, and it is a very dark picture.
