Oops! RNC Isn’t Quite Up To Speed With GOP’s Latest Culture War | Talking Points Memo

Amid Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ (R) executive order that aligns with the GOP’s latest culture war battle against so-called “vaccine passports,” it appears that the Republican National Committee missed the memo by requiring attendees of its spring donor retreat in the state to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test.

This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://talkingpointsmemo.com/?p=1368474

What’s ironic about this is, this may be the first responsible thing the RNC has ever done (albeit for very self-serving motives).

You radical liberal socialists, I swear! What part of “There are things you do for political posturing purposes and there are things you do out of a rational concern for your own well-being and those are two different things do you not understand?”

Vaccine passports are unnecessary. Just ask the client if they voted for Trump in 2020. If they say yes, deny them service for being at high risk of spreading innumerable pathogens.

“Proof of a negative COVID-19 test result is required in order to receive your credentials for the weekend,” the RNC’s email to attendees reads, according to the Washington Examiner. “If you or members in your party fail to fulfill this requirement, you will be denied entry to the 2021 RNC Spring Retreat.”

The RNC is in danger of taking a responsible precaution here. Its almost like they don’t want to risk death right before they can get vaccinated.

How do you expect them to be respectable bioterrorists if you take away all their bio-ammo? Take away our guns? We’ll show you!

Definitely at that moment when you explain to mom why she doesn’t get TV Guide anymore. (again)

They of course want to protect wealthy donors, and themselves. The rest of us, not so much.

In the last six months of his life or so, commensurate with a cancer diagnosis, my nonagenarian dad suddenly felt the world had become very confusing and he just couldn’t deal with all the confusingness. It was obvious to everyone, with the possible exception of himself, that he’d taken a cognitive downturn. That’s what this reminds me of, when Trump complains it doesn’t make sense. He can’t organize his thoughts well enough to follow a sport, or to answer an interviewer’s question without rambling like the stereotypical out-of-it old guy.

Meanwhile in the war against the MLB.

Well that pretty much showed the MLB. Take that.

I am really surprised that as worked up over this that Abbot is, he didn’t take a knee in protest.

(I know I am going to hell for that last line)

Stadium was packed though. Looks like there was some pent-up demand going on, boycott or no boycott.

The pretend Oval Office routine is a clue. He is lost in his delusion that he will be sitting there again, reigning supreme. The muttering of an obsolete old guy feeling this world walking on by his window.

Tough for the jokers are Rnc to keep up with all those strings of wet spaghetti flung desperately at the wall to see what sticks. Vaccines bad! Vaccines maybe ok, Fauci bad! Fauci is coming for Mr. potato-head’s favorite books!

A lotta ins, a lotta outs, a lotta strands for ol’ duders head.
