Once-Pardoned GOP Operative Charged With Funneling Russian Cash Into Trump ’16 Campaign | Talking Points Memo

Which is why it’s unlikely to be one of the players from 2016-- they didn’t need to go to some random operative to buy their way in, they had more direct lines of access.

The trick is to learn to miss the ground.

The fact they’re still enjoying unfractured necks does indicate they weren’t messing with any big players in Putin’s scene. Whoever they fleeced doesn’t seem to have the juice to go after them.

Well, not necessarily. Don’t know if Viktor is only just now perusing TPM and seeing that the $100K he was told was for the photo op actually only bought him the lowest level of photo op package, and he’s reaching out to a colleague about borrowing some polonium.

Trump couldn’t have pardoned this crime with admitting that Russian money was flowing into his campaign. That was never going to happen.

That seems kinda pricey for 1 or 2 minutes.

I posted about this yesterday.

I said there must be a shit-ton more of this happening that never gets uncovered. What a gig, just arranging illicit backdoor donations and scraping 75% off the top.

I also added as comedy
“Mommy, what does Daddy do for a living”

And I should have included her answer:
“Daddy arranges illicit money deals and everyone involved is so corrupt and illegal that when he steals from them…they can’t do much about it because everyone involved will go to jail if it is revealed”

And I should have added another version “Mommy what does Daddy do for a living”
and her answer:
“Mostly, He gets caught”

The only person with the chops to write a history of the Trump maladminsitration from 2014 to 2021 is Elmore Leonard, and he is gone. There is no one else capable of writing this history, where everyone is a crook.

It would have to be provable that the candidate knew about it.

For the same reason they bought a plank in the 2016 platform. It doesn’t matter that platforms are irrelevant, or that they wildly overpaid for a photo op. What mattered is that a foreigner offered a bribe and it was accepted. Kompromat city.

Yes, but Oleg is very familiar with Kentucky and has/had his claws dug in here with that aluminum rolling mill they’ve been trying to build near Ashland that stinks to high heaven going back to the Gov. Bevin days. The original company name was Braidy Industries, now they call themselves “Unity”. Mitch wanted that mill built badly and didn’t like being called Moscow Mitch for a reason. Oleg didn’t need a pic with TFG, but maybe one of his underlings wanted one.

Blanket pardons don’t have to be specific. Mikey “what plea” Flynn was pardoned for anything that might result from the mueller investigation, and for anything that might arise from his trial.

Saint Mueller was getting around to this guy just before he stopped his investigation. He’s sorry this highly relevant crime was missed when it would have had great impact. But he was such a nice guy!

If Hunter Thompson had written a semi-fictional accounting his publisher would have rejected it with a note saying, “Can you tone it down a little? Or a lot?”
