Ohio Republicans Use Last-Ditch Gambit To Infuse Ballot Proposal With Anti-Abortion Language

On the plus side, this makes it even less likely anyone will read far enough to get confused. They’ll do exactly as they were gonna already.

Well…4 is a bigger number than 3, … … innit? When do we see a half pound burger?

No surprise, The GOP is a degenerate party of liars. Take it to court now.

The GOP has so much confidence in the popular support for their moral stance on an issue of conscience that they have to distort the meaning of their proposal while attempting to sneak it onto the ballot. That’s a thumbnail picture of the GOP’s entire political approach to issues of ethics and conscience.

At least McCain wore his war wounds with pride. Dole was an angry prune.

It probably won’t, but it’s worthwhile to force them to put the full text of the amendment on the ballot:

This is not one of those situations where the amendment’s wording is in such legalese that the average voter needs a summary to understand it.

Disgusting.

Something similar happened in Albuquerque a decade or so ago, when an additon to the City code was suddenly on the ballot. The right wingers pushing it insisted that the entire text of the measure appear on the ballot … which expanded it to two pages for that one question. Of course, the text of the bill was preceded by a page full of “Whereas” this and “Whereas” that … all of them false allegations about “unborn children” and the like.

Nonetheless, due to hard work by activists for women, turnout was stupendous and the bill was defeated, 2 to 1 I think.

The lies and corruption are this blatant, all the time. This dude wants a permanent Trumpublican Confederate Party here and will stop at nothing to get it.

Well, why not? The Republican Party and particularly its plutocrats were more than Hitler-friendly.

What a spineless, gelatinous, creature LaRose has been wholly exposed to be here in Ohio. Since his first forays into politics as a state representative, he always sticks his finger in the air to find out which side can provide him with the most money. I know the same can be said about many politicians, but this empty vessel is top tier in this regard. He has no defining principles and goes out of his way to placate his puppet masters.

Once he is defeated for Ohio Senate, I nominate him for the role of “February Frank”–Ohio’s answer to Punxatawney Phil. When he pops his head out of his hole on Groundhog’s Day and sees his own shadow (if it doesn’t scare him first) we get six more weeks of feckless GOP legislation designed to disadvantage the most vulnerable.

They maximize and leverage their power even when it doesn’t exist. They know that no one will challenge them, so they continue.

Fetal Viability: when the fetus has a significant likelihood of survival with reasonable measures [Emphasis Added]

Reasonable according to who? The fetus?

Have fetuses been polled? Reasonable, as in “every machine we can plug into it”? Says who? Maybe the boss’s boss’s boss who knows everything about cafeteria design too?

Here’s my question about the mug shot. What is it with the red blotches just about the bridge on his nose – where the glowering crease seems to be filled with something red? His chin also has some red blotches. My theory is that, in the heat of the lights (and his sweaty nervousness), the red dye in his orange makeup separated out in some places. It’s very strange looking, like he has blood coming out of … everywhere.

Ohio is in the 6th Circuit; any progressive party in Ohio is going to think twice before suing in either state or federal court!

I would guess in most states it is the proponents of an initiative that get to summarize what the proposed law means.

Russia-Ukraine War Kremlin Denies Involvement in Crash Presumed to Have Killed Mercenary Leader

U.S. officials appeared increasingly certain that Yevgeny V. Prigozhin was dead, and some European leaders have speculated that the Kremlin had orchestrated his killing. The Kremlin has previously denied actions it was later shown to have carried out.

I try not to hate, or to be a hateful person, because it damages my soul. But I really really hate these cheaters and liars trying to overcome the will of the majority.
