President-elect Joe Biden said on Thursday that it is of “no personal consequence” to him whether or not outgoing President Donald Trump chooses to attend Biden’s inauguration next month, but that the move does have bearing on the nation’s image around the world.
“According to Biden, onlookers are thinking that what’s unfolding in the wake of the recent election is fitting of the sorts of issues that arise in “tinhorn dictatorships” rather than the United States.”
“But I do think it is for the country.”
So he’ll be a no show.
Guess who can only improve the event by staying away.
I fear that by saying he doesn’t personally care, Biden encourages Trump to attend, and I imagine Trump stalking around behind Biden as he takes his oath of office in a flashback to the debate with Hillary. Trump probably views that incident as evidence of his transcendent manhood.
I, for one, would love to see him sitting there and glowering like he did at the Correspondent’s Dinner while Obama flayed him.

It would be convenient if Trump were present at the inauguration just for the simple fact that it would make a nice visual to see that as soon as Joe is sworn in, Trump’s taken into custody by his Secret Service detail.
Biden chose his words carefully. To Donnie, Biden just hit him where it hurts. If it were literal, Trump would be in a fetal position, whimpering right now. Some of the smoothest language involving Trump that I have seen so far.
Trump needs to be there just to see what a huge crowd looks like, with 100s of thousands cheering people.
You must think the loser is listening to anything the incoming president has to say in order to fear his response. The loser won’t attend but instead will be sulking in front of a TV set eating hamburgers and watching the coverage on Fox.

Biden very deftly drew the appropriate contrast with his perceived role and Trump’s. He separated his personal interests from the national interests. Trump puts his personal interests above any others. To that extent Biden twisted the knife in Donnie’s back. So be it.
Or he could try to elbow Biden aside, like the leader of a smaller country, and try and take the oath again himself
