Former President Barack Obama, who has been extremely cautious about criticizing his predecessor, quietly shared a few tweets recently to convey his opinion of some of Trump’s racist comments.

Class act followed by crass act.

I hope the Obamas begin an on going and very pointed commentary on trump. I doubt they will though because any comments they make will lead to constant 2020 questioning on who they endorse. Once they go public with that maybe then they will be more vocal against trump.

It’s no wonder that the Obamas are loved and respected here and around the world. Now if we can only get the country back to a president who acts more like a statesman than P.T. Barnum!

Glad that the house is acknowledging their investigations may lead to impeachment (we kind of knew that all along) and hoping that townhalls during the recess will give cover to the purple-district majority makers.

Now,:grinning: what’s the count-down until we can vote donald out?

From the article:

…who has been extremely cautious about criticizing his predecessor

Is this a reference to Bush, fils or to President Obama’s successor, Dumbster Fyre? If the latter, please use that time reversal device to get the entire readership of TPM and our families out of Dumbster Fyre’s dystopia and into President Hillary Clinton’s dystopia.

Obama should hold his fire so he doesn’t become just another shooter in the endless and tiring back-and-forth war. Closer to the election his words will have more impact, and I trust he will find the right time and right way to express himself.

We have some interesting candidates right now, many of whom are thoughtful, articulate people. Some even seemed, for a while, to come close to Obama’s astonishing ability to reach out to ordinary people and help them understand how to think about complex but urgent questions. But he’s still a once-in-a-lifetime talent, it seems. I think he knows himself you can’t do that every couple of weeks without weakening the magic. I’m with you in thinking he knows there’s a time and place.

That’s what I’m thinking. As much as I want to see Obama unload, this stuff disappears so quickly that I don’t think even Obama would remain on the front page for long.

He should act as a (NOT LITERAL) sniper. Inflict damage where and when it has the greatest effect. Then he can cut loose at some point closer to election time. I have my criticisms of Obama, but I wish he could be run again.

BTW, I see the Democrats have moved incrementally closer to impeachment proceedings. How bold. I’ve been calling that issue a self-destructive, time-wasting, political loser, and I feel that way more strongly when I see an issue like this one here, where Trump practically hands the Dems a sledgehammer to hit him over the head with. These are the fights the Dems can win, that register with the average people–that you can understand by watching a 30-second-video.

Politics of polarization versus unification, of us&them versus we.

I am with Obama: we the people.

…Nothing in the 22nd says he can’t be elected VP as many times as he wants…

Thank you for fixing that headline!!

I know there is a tradition of former President not commenting on the actions of the present one, but Obama is so smart and witty that I think he can take some potshots at Trump that will go over Donnie’s head but the rest of us will catch, so please Barack get crackin!

He should speak up amid the Guardians Of Plutocrats’ headlong rush to embrace fascism. And now, with the resignation of Coats, the need is ever more urgent.

The other living past presidents need to address this as well.

Are you saying Obama could run as Biden’s (or somebody else’s) VP? Is that true? As far as I knew you couldn’t serve more than two terms as president in total–so what if Biden died in office?

We need to point out Trump’s failures more often. That’s the only way to get through to some of his stone-brained followers.

  • Failed to force Mexico to pay for a wall.
  • Failed to get North Korea to give up nukes.
  • Failed to get Iran to give up nukes.
  • Failed to staff his cabinet with “all the best people”.
  • Failed to “drain the swamp”.
  • Failed to make a trade war “pay off”.
  • Failed to protect our elections from Russian interference.
  • Failed to make a costly government shutdown force concessions.
  • Failed to bring promised peace to the Middle East.
  • Failed to reach promised 3% economic growth.
  • Failed to balance the budget.
  • Failed to release his tax returns, as promised.
  • Failed to move anything forward re: infrastructure.
  • Failed to do away with Obamacare.
  • Failed to “self-fund” his campaign.
  • Failed to implement his secret plan to get us out of Afghanistan.
  • Failed to provide evidence of Obama wiretapping his phones.
  • Failed to provide evidence of wide-spread voter fraud.
  • Failed to be exonerated by the Mueller investigation.
  • Failed to get a citizenship question added to the census.

Am I missing anything?
