Oakland Protesters Set Fire To Courthouse As Demonstrations Spread

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — A protest in Oakland, California, in support of racial justice and police reform turned violent when a small group of demonstrators wearing helmets and goggles and carrying large signs that doubled as shields set fire to a courthouse, vandalized a police station and shot fireworks at officers, authorities said.

It is impossible at this point to know who was responsible for the violence – anarchists or Federal agent provocateurs sent by Barr to justify sending in Federal goons?

this feels like the end of the Republic

Maybe the “wall of moms and dads” should stand between the protesters and property. Take away the excuse to send in troops and put the ball back in the MAGAt’s court.

“This was different,” Watson said. “This group of protesters had specific intentions to participate in one way or another — whether that’s carrying backpacks in with clearly very heavy items, and the smaller group would actually be engaged in doing the damage — there is a nexus with all of the attendees.”

Got no insider information, but even just on the basis of the quote above, I suspect provocateurs.

a little history may be helpful… about 1970 when my sons first started watching the tv, Sesame Street in the am and evening news, we needed to avoid the park across the street from the courthouse… bombings, ya know… fortunately my grand daughter did not need to avoid the park… 'til now.

The peaceful demonstrators must demonstrate against those who are doing the damage.

Change the focus from street demonstrations to economic and media event protests. For example, pick a day and have a nationwide picketing of every food store urging customers to boycott Goya products. On another day, stage a one day general strike. On a third have small groups simply stand on sidewalks holding anti-Trump signs.

Now why would you think such a terrible thing?

Yeah, the first thing I thought when I saw this was, this looks like a set-up.

Dead on. The cops and right-wing militias aren’t even trying to be subtle. We see you, motherfuckers, and we know who you are.

It is more than a little suspicious that Trump threatened Oakland, among other cities, with sending in Federal “troops” and now they have been given an excuse.

Until “they” can co-opt the fire service(s), it may be difficult for tRump and Barr to produce a proper Riechstag Fire moment. But a number of small scale attempts may serve just as well with the ability of RW media to amplify a burning trash receptacle into a city-wide conflagration.

When Trump uses footage and pictures of these violent outbursts in his campaign ads and twitter feed and when he tries to claim that this will be what America will look like under Biden, we all need to remember that these are pictures and footage of Trump’s America.

It’s clear, false flags will be the norm from here on in. Rump needs violent video footage for his election campaign. America, don’t give it to him.

I’m just not thrilled at any action which gives fuel to morons who believe the protesters are just anarchists. They aren’t. They’re trying to save the Republic from a totalitarian. But actions like these detract from the greater message.

Fuck em. They started out on message but now they’re just a bunch of criminals. Their cause is gone and the public will move away from it.

The shields give them away for who they are. It’s part of the tough guy cosplay.

His campaign has already done it once, that I’m aware of.
