except that the bill was passed in May, and Cuomo is just now signing it.
And Cuomo still hasn’t signed the “no double jeopardy” law that was passed around the same time.
ETA: Not to mention the fact that Neal said last June that he wasn’t planning on asking for the NY State returns — as if being able to compare state and federal returns is irrelevant to whether the IRS is doing a good job auditing federal returns.
All the trouble various different state governments and congress have gone to just to possibly make tRump’s taxes available. What road block will be put up for this one from NY State?
One might think, with all the stonewalling, that someone has something to hide.
I’m more curious about where Trump will try to put up roadblocks, and how he intends to do it.
Best guess is that he’ll go the state court route first, then switch over to the Federal courts once he loses in the State courts. (it would be funny if New York State attached his returns to any public pleading in the case as an exhibit)
Big question – if Neal does ask for the returns, does the request have to be made public prior to its being fulfllled?
Now if he could sign another bill enabling us to find out how he really did at Fordham before he transferred to UPenn, which he just claimed getting into makes him a “genius” because it’s the “hardest school to get into”…as opposed to, oh, say, Harvard, Yale, MIT, CalTech…
Problem is, they’re not in session. Don’t think they’re back till the 15th. That’s one of the problems with 2 weeks on, 1 week off, or something like that.
At this point in time, does the state of New York actually have possession of genuine verifiable copies of the full tax documents?
it would be important to establish that this is the actual facts of the situation
it would be very important for the world to know as a fact that a full and authentic compendium of the financial records that Donald Trump has attested to for tax purposes - exists outside of his and the IRS’s possession.
and … if the world knows this … and Donald Trump knows this … it only take a little bit of contemplation to recognize that Trump is potentially only a few computer key strokes / one surreptitiously passed thumb-drive away from having his entire detailed financial picture scrolling on the Jumbotron in Times Square - and readily search-able on about 1000 different sites.
… whether it gets released or leaked - may not matter as much as the very thought that it could be - and the impact of that ever-present potential weight on Trump’s paranoid brain every second of every hour of every day … Trump is already wound excessively tight - way too tight - knowing that his demise could come at any second - and is entirely beyond his control … well - this will fry his circuits
no. These are New York State returns. They will have some information that appears on the Fed returns (like federal taxes paid) but hrump does not submit his federal returns with his state income tax returns.
