About 40% of gun deaths are suicides, 50% murders and 10% fucking around (negligence) or legitimate self-defense and defense of others. Of course, there is the hybrid suicide-homicide where the distraught person takes out themselves and others. It is hard to even understand what Scott is trying to say.
Yeah - never … especially since their view is that presently, the problem is not enough guns !
You know they are muttering “if only every kid and every teacher had had a gun …”
I worked in public education for 32 years. I will never understand how, as a nation, we continue to countenance this ongoing, murderous abomination. There have been 19 school shootings this year, and we’re not even three months into it. But at least the guns are safe, so there’s that.
Police believe at least two of the weapons used during the attack were obtained legally. One was an AR-style rifle.
Read both articles coincidentally published in WaPo yesterday. The second one needs some kind of trigger warning (pun intended… that’s the phrase). I’ve read descriptions from ER physicians and staff before, but it’s nauseating the first time.
What is the matter with people.
Evergreen comment with that doofus.
Not sure how many on here watched Rachel Maddow’s show last night. She and her staff took that angle that doesn’t seem to get much notice-how many young people have lived through a mass shooting, or a school lock down.
You can watch here, and it’s well worth it.
This made me cry last night.
They’ll become their own voting-block soon.
Not at the rate that school shootings happen…but I have hope.
I’ve always thought that.
I think the big lesson here for would-be school shooters, or planning a shooting at some other buildings, is that the AR-15 cuts through glass doors like a knife through room-temp butter. Schools are going to have to be built more like bunkers, at least until the GOP make sure crazy people can buy AGTMs or Stingers to “protect their family.”
While it is good and well for Republicans to speak out when Trump does the inappropriate things he will continue to do, it’s all feels a bit like too little too late.
If we have learned anything over the past 8 years…this guy with the help of various cowards traitors and destructive foreign entities will find a ways to obfuscate, delay and skate from justice. The modern day mesmer is just too smart for the powers that be despite being one of the dumbest fuckers we’ve ever seen.
It took the shooter about 15 seconds to enter the school, someone more hardcore could have been in in 5.
I am not anti-gun to the extent that I think no one should own one. There are certainly legitimate uses such as hunting, home protection, and even sport. However, can anyone give me a valid reason why normal citizens should be able to buy semi-automatic rifles and 100 round clips?
.
This idea is catching on among Republicans. Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp is taking a page from DeSantis’ book, and is reportedly set to sign off on the creation of a new board that will have the power to get rid of local district attorneys it decides have gone rogue, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
For the most part, no. The grand jury will vote on any subpoenas, but mostly they hear from people the prosecutor puts before them voluntarily.
Memo to Rick Scott: We don’t have to imagine the carnage. It happens every week in the USA. And Republicans (for the most part) are the ones blocking any meaningful legislation to put a stop to it!
Rep. Ogles is a sick and deranged person. If the voters had any sense they’d fire him next year. And if only CPS could take away his kids, because he’s clearly not a responsible parent.
According to data compiled by Education Week, there have been 12 school shootings that have resulted in deaths or injuries in the US this year up until the end of last week.
America!
Inversion: did you come out of suspended animation or something? You are on a roll lately…!
The mind boggling reality…virtually nothing changes despite the carnage…and…there will be more…a portion of our representation is without morals or a conscience and the gun lobby keeps successfully reelecting fringe nut jobs across America.
