*Now* The Grievance Reel Is ‘Offensive’

A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo.

As my colleague Josh Kovensky reported yesterday, Donald Trump’s weekend campaign stop in Waco, Texas was one for the books, particularly his decision to run the tapes honoring those who have been convicted or charged for actions related to the storming of the Capitol on Jan. 6. The Trump campaign used the video to help raise money for the families of people jailed over their role in the attack, many of whom Trump and his allies in Congress like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) have repeatedly referred to as patriotic or political prisoners over the last two years.

First. Trump makes threat, former Trumper joins DeSantis. Love it.

Rick Scott:

We need to consider an automatic death penalty for school shooters.

I think when we pass this law we should also have mandatory life in prison for Medicare scammers.

Anything less than a full-fledged denunciation of Trump’s despicable tactics is cowardly.

“Devastated” GOP Congressman Andy Ogles, Who Represents the Covenant School’s District, Posed in Gun-Toting Christmas Card | Vanity Fair

Offensive Christmas photos aside, Ogles’s claim of being devastated by today’s shooting is pretty absurd his record on gun control. As mayor, he signed a resolution “declaring [his county] a sanctuary community for the constitutional right to bear arms.” On his congressional campaign website, he promised: “I will fight tirelessly to ensure that your constitutional rights are protected and never infringed upon. Disarming the people is the most effective way to enslave them, and we must remain vigilant when anyone seeks to erode our civil liberties.” In January, he cosponsored a bill that would allow people with concealed carry licenses or permits to carry a weapon in any other state. And just this month, he cosponsored legislation that would prohibit the federal government from creating a federal firearms registry.

🚨I voted YES to Parents Bill of Rights Act!

School should not be a place of woke indoctrination. The blatant propaganda found in many textbooks must not be hidden from plain view. Now is the time to protect our impressionable children; this is our duty as parents and Americans.

There is no way you’re going to convince the American people that Jan. 6 was anything less than a horrible day

Well… well… well… there’s something we can agree upon. On the upside for the patriots, room service is included.

It’s what he does best. Instead of focusing on actual policy proposals or engaging in serious debate about the issues plaguing American life, Trump feeds on perceived injustices, riling up the most far-right members of his base with an endless negative feedback loop that’s only fixed by keeping or returning Trump to power.

And someone has told him this is a remarkably successful approach, even though it seems to be nothing of the kind, based on the midterm results and the plummeting approval rating he’s receiving (along with the campaign donations).

Rick Scott’s Solution

He’d like it to be that easy, but it really isn’t. What’s the tally of mass murderer/shooters that survive the attack, either self-inflicted or taken out by law enforcement?

Fani Willis, the Atlanta-area DA leading the Fulton County investigation into Trump, has been starkly critical of the bill. “I’m tired and I’m just going to call it how I see it,” she said earlier this year. “I, quite frankly, think the legislation is racist. I don’t know what other thing to call it.”

It’s racist, maybe, but it’s more interference with due process of the law. If DAs serve only at the pleasure of whatever political party is in power at the time, equal justice under the law becomes a farce.

Al responded: “The RINOs first, make the Democrats watch…”

Alonso answered: “yes.”

When asked about the message, Alonso testified it was all “‘locker room talk,’ if you will.”

But since they never did it, is this just 1A - being able to say anything without retribution or repercussion?

“If any GOP primary candidate fails to summon the moral courage to endorse a 15-week gestational minimum standard, then they don’t deserve to be the president of the United States,” Marjorie Dannenfelser, the president of SBA Pro-Life America, told the Washington Post.

Sounds like a fine disqualifier for the rest of us that don’t agree with any of it. Should make the decision pretty easy at the ballot box.

ETA: And I would be remiss if I didn’t include at least one goat photo (these are Moo’s twins from last year, taken yesterday, Winston and Winnie):

While it’s hard to disagree with Graham, Cornyn, and Rounds, I can’t help but think that TPM needs to post a timer to keep track of how long beore Graham comes out recanting that statement and making one in total support of TFG.

Jim Jordan accuses Democrats of ‘politicizing’ Nashville shooting and delays ATF markup (msn.com)

Jim Jordan is delaying the Judiciary Committee’s markup of a part of Joe Bidens budget that seeks to implement more gun control by massively increasing funding for the Bureau of [Alcohol](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/alcohol/index.html), Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

‘Democrats were going to turn this tragic event into a political thing,’ Jordan told reporters when asked about reports that he was delaying the markup scheduled for Tuesday

Biden’s Fiscal Year 2024 budget would bump ATF funding by 7.4 percent with a total $1.9 billion with the goal of tightening gun laws. The money would be used, in part, to seek stricter rules and legislation related to firearms registration as Biden continues to make part of his priorities combating gun violence in the U.S.

George Santos was accused of being a “bludgeoning tool” given to the democrats.

He can now rest easy as Andy Ogles makes sure that the democrats get the full bludgeoning toolkit. What is great about Ogles is that his bludgeoning tool works equally well on Christian Nationalists.

The belief Ogles is promoting is that America’s civic and social roots are Christian, and that contemporary forces threaten that foundation. Analysts and scholars are more often calling it Christian nationalism. Ogles didn’t respond to an interview request and his campaign didn’t respond to questions by email.

America still has yet to confront the fact that a lot of the J6 gang were Christian Nationalists.

Asked by lawmakers earlier this year to describe those who attacked the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, District of Columbia police officer Daniel Hodges told the House select committee tasked with investigating the insurrection that “it was clear the terrorists perceived themselves to be Christians.”

Two members of that same committee, Democrat Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland and Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, also independently noted in conversations with the press the incidence of Christian nationalism.

The substance of the grievances matter less than the end goal.

Why not spell it out for all to see: The end goal is to get re-elected and then pardon himself.

Everything after that is gravy…

Does Rick Scott really think that the death penalty will deter mass shooters? Most, if not all, already don’t expect (and maybe don’t want) to get out of the situation alive.

This is offensive too.

If you truly want change, make the people who sold or gave the gun to the shooter legally liable, including the death penalty. No more washing your hands when delivering a deadly weapon to someone.

And we are suppose to believe that the money they raise for these so called ‘patriots’ will really and truly go to those families?
Sounds like maybe we should start a stop the thief campaign that focuses on getting orange man to stop stealing peoples money.
