Norman Responds To TPM Revelations Of His Call For ‘Marshall Law’

Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC), whose Jan. 17, 2021 text to then-Chief of Staff Mark Meadows called for Donald Trump to invoke “Marshall Law,” has responded to the revelations.

Over at Esquire C. P. Pierce describes this series thusly, " As we continue to follow the Holiday Pageant Of Sedition at “Talking Points Memo…”

without any way to slow down and examine those issues prior to the inauguration

You mean, other than the myriad local and state processes of election certification, the filing of 60-something lawsuits against the election results, and the more than two months between the election and inauguration?

Idiot. He didn’t impress me with his intellectual capacity in his texts, and he’s not improving his status.

This man is going to face no consequences for that text. Neither legal or political. Honestly this one seems like he was as sincere as all of us who believe still that Russia used information warfare and the feeble mind of Jim Comey in 2016. I was really hoping that some of this was them just lying to their voters but it seems that some of them actually believed their own BS? It’s depressing reading these.

Yeah, the 60 failed lawsuits jumped immediately to my mind as well. It’s an absurd and inane argument to be making given all the facts we know now (and then!).

Dear God/Goddess/Allah
I have some questions -
If I’m frustrated that my political party here on Earth didn’t win in one of the nations under Your Eye, can I cheat and tell all the other people that their vote didn’t count, only mine?

Dear Frustrated Miserable Sinner: No

Oh Deity, if I don’t like the outcome of a sporting event, an event that I specifically prayed to you for Divine Intervention for you to give us a win, can I cheat and just say our team won?

Dear F. Miserable Sinner : No

Oh Mighty Deity, if my neighbor uses a leaf blower to moves thy leaves from his yard, may I kill him?

Dear F. Miserable S : Yes

Why did you guys wait until AFTER the midterms to release this?

Would have been VERY helpful to have traitor GOP reps on the defensive BEFORE the vote.

Did Representative Norman think this was not going to be a big deal? He could just not respond to TPM and it would all go away? Maybe he’s not a Prime member and doesn’t read TPM normally.

Agreed, there was no there, there. Out of all the states, and big counties controlled by Republicans, and they couldn’t come up with a plausible example of skullduggery that would have affected enough votes that Trump would have another 4 years of his infamous shit show.

So now we know the Rethugliklan definition of the Marshall Law:

“Every revelation of fomenting treason will elicit a lame excuse for said sedition.”

. . . and doesn’t read TPM normally period

There, that’s better.

Not mutually exclusive with my diagnosis of idiocy.

I think this points to the depth and strength of the conservative bubble: these people hear nothing but the RWNJ version of events, and don’t have the cognitive skills to question them or see if anyone else doesn’t swallow the same shit, so they eat it all.

I’m reminded of the guy from Colorado–I think he was a state senator or state rep from some red, red area in eastern Colorado–who said Biden could not have possibly won the election, because he–the Colorado guy–didn’t know anyone who voted for Biden.

Idiots.

Re: “Marshall Law.”

Well, Marshall, we’re gonna fuck ya now.

– something I think I remember from a George Carlin bit.

“countless unanswered questions about the integrity of the 2020 election”

The questions had been answered. He turned a blind eye to the answers.

The “biased media”, yeah. This started out as a rightwing joke, back when they first cowed the major news outlets into giving everything the wingnut spin, instead of reporting the facts straight. (Gasoline prices drop for the 25th straight week! Bad news for Joe Biden)

But Today’s Republicans are so blind and dumb that they actually believe the Foxified news landscape and Facebooked social media is somehow biased against them. Pathetic. As well as deplorable.

Ah! The great Charles Pierce! I haven’t been able to read his stuff since Esquire put up a paywall.

Now that’s “Marshall Law” that I can get behind.

There, ‘discobot’! Are you happy? I’ve combined multiple replies in one response.

I, too, often want to call out the troops when things don’t go as I would like. Perfectly understandable.

Not only is he a seditious worm, but a gutless one at that.
