Pelosi’s appearance on MSNBC’s Last Word last night was brilliant. All of this outrage from the MAGA Republicans about TFG’s legal issues is so minuscule compared to what they did to this country on J6. Nancy does remind us of that as well in her thoughts last night.
Aren’t we all baffled by Trump supporters? Angered too, but lots of bafflement.
Flawlessly argued.
There is diversity in bacteria there at least. What with leprosy on the rise.
I’ve moved on from bafflement to:
A man hears what he wants to hear, and disregards the rest.
Just WHO is this suppose to appeal to?
DeSantis pledges to ‘start slitting throats on day one’ amid campaign reboot - Alternet.org
Governor DeSantis “appeared bent on demonstrating that no candidate talks tougher. He promised that, under his presidency, Mexican drug cartels would be ‘shot stone cold dead,’ and vowed that when it comes to federal bureaucrats, ‘we are going to start slitting throats on Day One.’”
“During an interview with Real America’s Voice, Florida’s Governor said he wanted a Defense Secretary with a sharp blade and a killer instinct who isn’t wedded to the extant hierarchy,” Florida Politics reported.
DeSantis “said the person he picks to run the Pentagon would have to be prepared to ‘slit some throats’ and be ‘very firm, very strong’ in imposing their will.”
Indeed, Republicans celebrate Jeffery Clark as a “legal star”.
It would be appropriate if the judge restricts Trump from making statements that incite violence or target officers of the court, jurors or witnesses or their families. Didn’t happen in MAL case, so I don’t expect it here, but it would be nice.
Pennsylvania hasn’t executed anyone since 1999. They use lethal injection now, and electrocution prior. The last electrocution was done in 1962. The first lethal injection was done in 1995. He’s going to be in prison for a long, long, time. I don’t see any Democratic governor of Pennsylvania signing any death warrants, and as long as Pittsburg and Philadelphia keep showing up at the polls I don’t think a Republican will occupy the Governor’s Office for a very long time.
ETA: Per @Le_Monde_Inverse, he’s sentenced to death under a Federal Hate Crimes law, not under Pennsylvania law. Here and I thought that (except in very narrow circumstances occurring on Federal property) murder was a State crime. So much for the death penalty as a deterrent, eh?
<discoboy: the post is not empty. Go piss up a rope.>
Just imagine Trump on the stand whipping out a pair of metal balls and whining about Joe Biden stealing the strawberries…and then read in the New York Times that Trump used geometric logic to prove his innocence…
As no less than William Barr has pointed out no one can assert at trial what was really in Trump’s head except Trump himself on the witness stand. If Trump takes the witness stand his credibility will be shredded with an overwhelming recitation of his lies. And even if you believe your two children are zombies, which the law allows you to believe, that doesn’t give you the legal right to kill them.
Maybe Rudy will find a way to combine gold coins,
penile lengthening, and copper into one big gloriously
grifty infomercial.
“Be prepared to slit some throats”
Casey then? (Lady Macbeth got nothin’ on that woman).
He’s right up there with Roland Freisler.
Trump is allegedly going to assert he was relying on the counsel of attorneys when he pursued “remedies” to a faulty election. Therefore he’s protected from liability for crimes arising from his efforts.
It’s also said a defense will be he truly believed the election was rigged against him. Yet many of the attorneys he says he relied upon for counsel told him the election was essentially fair and sound and the he’d lost.
So how does he say he heeded counsel as to remedies, but ignored it as to their judgment he lost? I don’t see this conflict highlighted much in media coverage.
“Sweeney Ron, The Demon Barber of Tallahassee.”
Rudy thinks he’s an Italian Stallion.
In reality Rudy is a broken down old nag.
Just how far into delusion can we go???
“You know the worst thing about this indictment, under the terms of this indictment, Jack Smith can be indicted. Let me explain to you why,” Dershowitz said. “The statute says the following, two or more persons conspire to injure and deny somebody the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured him by the constitution. What if a court ultimately rules that Donald Trump had a right under the First Amendment to make his Jan. 6 speech and to do what he did? Then Jack Smith will have conspired to deny him of that right. That’s how serious this is.”
Ron the Dictator, doesn’t have quite the cachet as say:
Joseph Stalin
Idi Amin
Fidel Castro
AH
Benito Mussolini
Pol Pot
etc.
