No, The Jan. 6 Indictment Of Trump Is Not A First Amendment Case

A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo. Sign up for the email version.

Does this count as a cat?
I am corrected, I wanted Bastet, and typed Anubis. Silly.

But I’ll own my stupid.

The idiots in charge know there is no 1st amendment violation here, specifically because the indictment CALLS OUT that this is not trying to suppress speech.

But it doesn’t matter. The GQP lies as easily as it breathes (maybe easier) and the minions believe whatever they are told in true cult fashion.

And of course some of the more prominent media outlets are trying to make this into some kind of horse race as to who’s going to be more believable: TIFG or the justice system:

“On the issue of whether it can persuade the public of the righteousness of its prosecution, the Justice Department has taken on a huge and politically polarizing target in an atmosphere already ripe with mistrust over its motivations.”

Tree Of Life Gunman Sentenced To Death

Glad of it, but it will not happen. Appeals and other legal stuff will prevent this. We’ll get to pay for this guy’s upkeep for a long time to come.

One thing to watch for: Does the government seek different or additional conditions on trump’s release than they did in the Mar-a-Lago case?

I wouldn’t be surprised if they did so because Trump,
to this day, continues to perpetuate the Big Lie which
essentially means the coup attempt never stopped.

And also we have a judge now who believes in the
rule of law and won’t play patronage politics.

If the criminal was an ordinary person he would have been in jail long ago and awaiting his many trials. But, oh no, the privileged do not have the same rules applied even though this guy is guilty as hell.

It counts as a dog, or more accurately a jackal.

I’m ready for the next installment of Trump’s legal woes. Trump is getting to be an old pro at this.

Trump should have never taken that stupid escalator that day in June of 2015.

I think it’s time for Harvey to hang it up. We don’t want Eastman to have a valid appeal on grounds of ineffective counsel.

“The first Black woman on the Supreme Court will be the featured speaker at next month’s 60th anniversary of the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham that killed four Black girls.”

This speech might be illegal for Jackson to give before a public school assembly in Florida. Pointing out white people harmed black people in America’s past is forbidden.

I love orange tabbies because they have a certain type of attitude that is not found in other cats.

Thanks got in a hurry and typed the wrong god. Or since I wanted a cat would that be God?

Our three barn cats at the farm are orange tabbies. At least two of them make friends throughout goat snuggles (the third, Shyla, is aptly named - still very nervous around people).
