I agree with Mrs. Not a thing most rush to admit.
Gerrymandered ruby-red districts etc. versus people who need at least some moderate, sensible support to win.
If trump isn’t already in prison by then, he’ll draw out uncertainty about running in 2024 for as long as possible in order to maximize his cash flow while evading the stricter election fund-raising reporting requirements for Presidential candidates.
If all Republicans are like Haley and won’t campaign until the uncertainty over trump is resolved, the GOP may have a very late start for their 2024 Presidential campaign season.
Yeah. I never thought I’d see the day when I’d admire (well, sort of) Liz for her courage (again, sort of). She must have had to spend a lot of time duck hunting with her father as a child.
Duh. LYNNE not Liz
@zandru
I might have forgotten some of the timeline and details, but Trump’s successes were in his first two years. And half of that first two years were taken up with trying to get Donald to know how to President. The tax cuts, the family separation and other immigration policies were all mainstream Republican ideas, and not necessarily Trump specific. They couldn’t kill the ACA. They got 2 SC Justices, thanks to McConnell. But all the nominees for federal judgeships were handled out of Trump’s sight, and except for Gorsuch and Kavanaugh Trump didn’t meet any of them.
Even if Trump declines to run in 2024, Haley won’t run if Biden runs for a second term. But she probably sees Kamala as beatable.
I haven’t observed much of a schism. They can’t agree on much of anything policy-wise, of course, apart from all the dumb culture war stuff. But as far as I can tell, virtually the entire party (sans Lynne Cheney and Adam Kinzinger) are firmly behind Trump. The party has correctly assessed that Trump added 11 million additional voters in 2020. The GOP has collectively decided to take their chances trying to keep those extra voters on board in hopes that Joe Biden’s 15 million voters might stay home in future elections, because changing their policies to appeal to other voters is intolerable to them.
The “success’ in the first two years consisted of taking credit for the economic recovery that began under President Obama. After that, the trade wars and tariffs began to reverse those gains.
What’s the term for a female cuck?
Every other review of the same speech “It was an angry, awful rehashing of grievances without a single mention of his administration’s achievements.”
Nikki Haley “Actually it was a speech about his administration’s achievements.”
She got swastika eyes.
My Republican Congresswoman is Bush Republican. She’s getting bashed by the Trump Republicans and the country club Republicans. This happed the same way when the Tea Party folks were trying to take over.
Yep, I forgot that.
I don’t know about that, I’m pretty sure snakes have a vertebrae.
What’s the difference between the modern GQP and a jellyfish?
Jellyfish are naturally occurring.
I haven’t heard Lynne Cheney make any comments about Trump.
Do you mean Liz, who is in the GQP House leadership?
I can’t disagree with this, but I personally think they have not correctly assessed whether any of these votes will transfer. I think 20 million or more of his votes came to vote for him - they aren’t willing to vote for someone else even if endorsed by t****. The only exception is if a true heir to t**** appeared on the scene, and even then there would be much discussion/disagreement over whether the heir was the real thing. To be fair, I think a good number of Biden’s votes were strictly motivated by who he was running against.
When I first read “Niikki Haley’s About Face” I took “Haley’s” as a contraction of “Haley is”.
Oddly that also applies.
(See Mary’s Danish)
“Trump aired grievances and attacked his critics during the NRSC’s weekend events, offering little by way of vision for the conservative movement. “
Au contraire! Trump expressed the entirety of the conservative “vision” for both the immediate and the distant future.
YA “Profile in Cowardice.”
