Nikki Haley’s About Face: I ‘Would Not Run’ If Trump Launches 2024 Prez Bid | Talking Points Memo

"I think what he also talked about were all the successes that he had in the administration. And I think that’s what Republicans are uniting on,” she said.

“All the successes” would not be enough to fill one episode in a 30 minute sitcom. If that is what Republicans are uniting on their party platform in 2024 will be the same as the platform they didn’t bother to write in 2020.

Including me, I’d say it’s a bit more than half the electorate.

He’s a perennial loser. The skunk cabbage of flowers.

It still makes me wonder whether this creepy allegiance to Hair Furor is all about kompromat he threatens them with which has been provided by his buddy Vlad.

I guess I’m struggling to find anything remarkable here. He isn’t going to run, so this is hardly a concession. She tests the winds and responds to questions in a way she thinks people in her audience mostly want to hear, because that’s what you do. If she said something different in February, well, I guess that shows there’s only one Lynne Cheney.

JFK wrote Profiles in Courage.

Nikki Haley writes Portraits in Cowardice.

If you want a moment’s break from awfulness, here’s a nice man doing a nice thing for a child. The child was orphaned in the latest attack on the Capitol, and the man is the President of the United States, and a moment of simple grandfatherly decency maybe shouldn’t mean so much, but that seems to be how people are reacting because it was a long, long, long four years.

I don’t believe he’s going to run either, he’s going to be knee deep, no, make that deep up to his orange hairline, in legal proceedings and struggling for money. Nobody asked but John Boehner’s a weasel too. He trashed the loser in his book, says he abused his supporters, but now admits he voted for him in 2020. JFC

She would not win regardless, so saving money I guess.

I could say I don’t understand how these people think but maybe what I really don’t understand is how they feel. Some of us wouldn’t vote for a Trump under any circumstances, no matter what personal or political advantage we saw in it.

And still I deal with this on SM:

We should pause dementia joe and his administration chock full of misfit toys…out of an abundance of caution.

oh I don’t know…anyone except this pascal of America hating idiots. You think this admin is saintly??

This showed up on a story about the J&J pause. I’m sure the next thing out of that side’s mouths will be all sorts of idiocy about ‘don’t let that little girl near that pedophile’ nonsense.

They won’t look at the event as a positive. They’ll look at it as another angle to attack Joe. Or needing a photo op.

And you know why? Because they, themselves, wouldn’t think to do the same thing in the same circumstances, because they’re too self-absorbed and damaged to do anything nice for anyone.

This is great news…Trump can keep all of them out. Keep them from fundraising, and at the last minute when he doesn’t run (and he isn’t going to run with all the legal stuff out there)…they will be way behind.

They might think that even with trappings of wealth, estates, golf courses, planes, etc., he’s one of them underneath it all, and they’re soul sisters and brothers because Big Macs.

Honestly he does have a regular-dope quality that serves him well with the bottom two quintiles. I meant Boehner, how he justifies voting for a guy who whatevered a pandemic. That’s a brain-teaser for me.

Is it just me but there seems to be a schism in the GOP. There’s the state level GOP that are all in with everything Trump, the RNC is all in with everything Trump, for elected state Republicans they are split, and current elected Republican in Congress are split.
They all need his base, but do they know the whole Republican base? Is this a case of the squeaky wheel getting the oil, but trying not to ignore the other 3 wheels that haven’t started squeaking yet?
