Newsweek Editors Finally Apologize Under Pressure For Racist Birther Op-Ed About Kamala Harris | Talking Points Memo

If the editors “failed to anticipate” the ways in which the essay “could be interpreted, distorted and weaponized”, it’s a sign they may be in the wrong line of work. The essay itself is a weapon; it was designed and written to be so. The second-rate excuse sort of makes Newsweek look even worse.

More proof of how “liberal” the media is. Newsweek hasn’t been a news magazine for years.

Why is the postal service dismantling sorting machines?

“You’ll have to ask him.”

Will you say Kamala is eligible to run?

“It’s not something that bothers me.”

“Don’t tell me what I know.”

“I don’t know about it. I read one quick article. The lawyer is brilliant.”

He fucking won’t say it. Fucking piece of shit.

Almost certainly, but not overtly; e.g., Moonies, Messiahs and Media: Who Really Owns Newsweek?

Cults know how to mask themselves, as do authoritarians generally, until they have enough power to force people where they had to deceive them before.

Korean religious group. This made me curious.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s office raided Newsweek’s headquarters in Lower Manhattan on January 18, 2018, and seized 18 computer servers as part of an investigation related to the company’s finances.[65] IBT, which owns Newsweek, had been under scrutiny for its ties to David Jang,[65] a South Korean pastor and the leader of a Christian sect called “the Community”.[66]

racist… conservative… lawyer…

Lot of them around. Lots of them cheating their way into government. I wonder why. They’re not representing me.

The conservative movement is on the wrong track. We need change.

Now he’s on about how there’s much more enthusiasm than in 2016. Now it’s the boats. The boats prove he’s going to win.

…the editors offered an apology in a note attached to the racist birther column… acknowledging regret that the op-ed was “being used by some as a tool to perpetuate racism and xenophobia.”

If it wasn’t intended to perpetuate racism and xenophobia, what was it intended to do?

Biden “has no control over himself.”

Every supposed news conference is a litany of the same outrageous lies we’ve been hearing over and over. That’s his stump speech. Everything is fine we should have college football the radical anarchists are running wild in the Democratic cities and Biden wants to defund the police.

Nancy Cooper is an American journalist, birther, and news executive serving as the global editor-in-chief of Newsweek magazine.

Newsweek defends its decision to publish Eastman’s tripe, though it initially failed to include a relevant bit of biographical information: The author in 2010 ran for attorney general of California. He lost the Republican primary to a candidate who was subsequently trounced by … Kamala Harris.

Amid the backlash, Newsweek editors Nancy Cooper and Josh Hammer published a pushback in which they claimed, laughably, that Eastman’s argument “has no connection whatsoever to so-called ‘birther-ism.’ ”

This says it all.

So Newsweek has been downgraded from “the magazine roughly the same shape and size as Time I only see at the dentist” to “the racist and more intellectually void Time”. Ob-la-de.

IIRC, it’s important to bracket the lie with facts, if you are going to mention it at all. I.e. Sen. Harris was born in Oakland. GOP are lying by saying she might not be eligible to be POTUS. She is a native born citizen of CA and the USA.

Thanks for the reports. I can only watch one of these pressers one or two times a week now. As it is, I’m gonna need a gallon of spackling paste to repair the wall damage from thrown objects.

My own attitude is morbid fascination, and I’m also watching for brain glitches, so it’s a different vibe for me. But take my word for it, it’s the same thing every time. Lies and lies and lies.

What exactly is Newsweek these days…but a name: under the umbrella of something that sounds more like a cult.
