"From March 11 to May 2, the CDC said, a total of 32,107 deaths were recorded in the five boroughs by New York Cityâs Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
Using death data from previous years, the CDC established a baseline, expected death rate of around 8,000 for the same time period.
Subtracting that from the number of total deaths recorded gave researchers an estimate of 24,172 deaths more than would have been expected."
Do they take population change into account in calculating expected deaths this year vs last year? If the NYC pop trend is negative then expected deaths would be reduced and excess deaths (undiagnosed covid19 deaths) would increase.
But hey Trump just said again that anyone who wants a test can get a test.
And reporters really, really need to be specific when asking him which fucking tests is he talking about.
We know that the person who is POTUS is really living in a fish bowl. They are isolated because of the position not the person. But when a nutjob that only associated with a small group of people to begin with becomes POTUS then weâre screwed.
And as much as I detest Trump Iâm beginning to detest the enablers, the sycophants, and the wannabees more. Donât get me wrong this is not me going easy on Trump but I want the hammer to pound those that allow him to be this way.
In the first year of his term he was able to be managed and guided, then the firings and quittings started. If the expression âBurn this Mother Downâ hadnât been invented then weâd need to invent it.

Now do the entire country this same way. The CDC needs to redeem their reputation in this, and getting an accurate assessment of the death toll and publishing it DAILY will go a long way toward getting the CDC back in control of the narrative. Trump needs to be called out on the facts and to stop trying to gaslight the whole freaking world, when 99% of its people are twice as smart as Trump.

Its almost certain that statisticians would have used the most accurate population estimates, when preparing this data. But, the population of NYC reached 8.3m in 2018, the highest in its history⌠Its not likely that this dropped significantly in the boom year 2019. So, decline probably isnât going to be a big factor
