New Capitol Footage Shows Multiple Near-Misses Between Rioters, Members Of Congress | Talking Points Memo

Over and over again on Jan. 6, the mob that attacked the Capitol came within mere feet of their targets — members of Congress and the vice president.

How anyone could watch those videos clips and still somehow rationalize that T**** is somehow not totally responsible is totally beyond me.

This shit was hard to watch.

Yet again another masterful presentation by the House Managers. The time line is especially useful. But the video is overwhelming, whether new or clips we’ve seen over and over.

I suspect that only 9/11 video was harder to watch for most Americans.

How someone could watch those clips and ever vote for another GQPer again, until the end of time is beyond me.

Any Democratic candidate who runs against an incumbent Republi-thug and does not just run that footage as their campaign commercial is just committing political malpractice.

Trump attorneys expected to argue Democrats are “glorifying violence” by recreating Capitol riot

From CNN’s Kaitlan Collins

When it’s their turn to speak, former President Trump’s defense team is expected to argue that House impeachment managers were “glorifying violence” when they recreated the Capitol insurrection.

Today, Trump’s team watched quietly from the Senate floor as the managers showed video after video from that day. But a person familiar with the plan says they currently plan to argue that Democrats “glorified violence,” while also claiming they took Trump out of context during his rally on the Ellipse.

This will go down like a

Remember when several members here warned it would be a bumpy ride. Hold on tight. It’s not over yet.

What the House members are so masterfully doing is putting every Senator back to 01/06. This is what prosecution looks like. What Trump’s defense lawyers have is nothing. They can’t spin this, they can’t deflect the horror scenes that the House managers are showing.
I’d add that if any R Senator had been at a Trump rally, they would not have experienced it from the crowds perspective, the crowd would have just been a mass. But again if these assholes don’t vote to convict then they’d better think twice about returning to their states.

Just for the record, yes, Trump is totally responsible.

Maybe we should all get involved, maybe something like a vote on “Is He Guilty, or Guilty As Hell”.

Perfectly normal scenes that you see everywhere in stable democracies after elections, whenever the loser is a corrupt demagogue who doesn’t value the democratic process, won’t accept the results of a perfectly normal democratic election, and incites an insurrection by feral white supremacists supporters to overturn it. Nothing to see here. Time to move on and unify our country.

I confess… not having had lunch with Chuck, or any of the House Managers for this operation, I was a little surprised, and unhappy, that the question of witnesses seemed so… uncontroversial, uncontentious. Now, I’m thinking that’s a box the Republi-thugs put themselves into. Video can’t be cross-examined. Daaaaaayum.

After today, every goddamn Republican politician should be asked at the start of any interview: “Do you believe in America? Are you for the American People? Do you respect the Constitution and the Bill of Rights?” If they refuse to answer these questions, or fail to answer in the affirmative, the interviewer has the right to say: “Fuck off. No one needs to hear from you.”

Kumbaya and all that jazz.

The condemnation by the Senate of the fecal mass commonly referred to as “Trump” should be so severe that Mar-A-Lago should be metaphorically surrounded and all current occupants marched deep into the Atlantic. It would pollute the water, but maybe the sharks would rid us of this pestilence.
