What needed to be done, and still must be done, is to connect Trump and his enablers (Cruz, Hawley, Graham, Fox News) to Timothy McVeigh.
The managers at the impeachment trial should have used shock and awe to show these people what they and Trump have been and are fomenting. Show them pictures of the Oklahoma City bombing, the bombing of a federal building back in 1995. Let them deny it, but later they just might give pause.
Sane people are leaving the party in droves. Or perhaps hordes.

Burr is not running again and Lara Trump keeps coming up as the GOP choice to replace him. I actually hope she does run, the MAGAT’s are misogynists and probably won’t bother to vote for a woman so she either won’t get through the primaries or, if she does, she should lose in the general. 2022 should be the year we finally get a Dem back in a NC Senate seat. Jeff Jackson, a NC state senator, is already running for Burr’s seat. His wife actually ran his campaign when he got called up by the National Guard, where he is a JAG Captain. I just hope he doesn’t pull a JonEdwards/CalCunningham on us.
McConnell is playing the Democrats. He has already commissioned Turley to write a paper explaining that the Constitution prohibits the prosecution of a former president for crimes he committed while in office. The only remedy is impeachment and removal.
Be careful what you hope for.
We all hoped Trump would win the GOP primary. At the time, no one thought he had a chance of winning the general.

I rather think that that 74 million represents not so much that it’s all extremists, although there is certainly a contingent that’s larger than we’d like to think.
Rather, we keep missing out on capturing winnable votes because the Democratic party doesn’t have a great history of delivering things for the average middle class person.
I keep noting that in my own experience over the years. Too much money to be poor, not enough to be well-off, stuck in that middle ground where very few of the benefits promised by either side reach me.
The Dems like to promise to save people from their own personal decisions, the Republicans bail out billionaires, and my taxes just stay the same or increase regardless of who is in charge.
If we want to capture what can be captured from the other side, we do need to look at what we’re promising that changes the balance for the lot of folks like me that can very easily fall on one side or the other.
