Originally published at: Murkowski Calls Out Her Colleagues For Abandoning Their Constitutional Duties
Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) is known as one of a few left in the Republican Party in 2025 who is not an unabated Donald Trump sycophant. She’s been willing to criticize Trump while working alongside her colleagues in the Senate to help pass elements of his agenda, both in the first administration and now. That…
Murkowski is all hat and no cattle. The GOP are all either spineless greedweasels, or full-on Christo-fascist. Some are both.
I don’t care if her hands are not perfectly clean, we need more of this.
Senator Murkowski is another reason not to consider all Republicans as part of an indivisible (heh!) monolith. We need to peel them off one at a time. Divide and conquer, right? The Republicans have been using this strategy against the left with stunning and depressing success for decades – so we know it works.
With all due respect, sir, that’s loser talk.
… while Murkowski didn’t vote to convict Trump in his first impeachment trial, she was one of a handful of GOP senators to concede that his extortion scheme toward Ukraine was wrong — and she did vote with Democrats to convict Trump in his second impeachment trial
In other news:
The Kilmar Abrego Garcia case with Judge Paula Xinis, who ordered discovery on the case saw the CF team go to the appellate court to stop the discovery.
The appellate court denied it all in one swoop and even defined the word facilitate for the lawyers who needed clarification of said word.

The key will be whether her GOP colleague, Senator Collins, is concerned. If Collins is concerned, then we can all rest easy.
When we look back on this time, we’ll have an idea of which statements and actions made a difference. Now, it’s just one big exploding clusterfuck, and nothing is clear. But, I’m glad Murkowski said what she did.
We’re at a point where observing that reality is what is, e.g., Trumpworld “retaliation” for wrongspeech, is real, stands out as news. Somebody in congress needs to be saying it. And not to be too hard on congressional Ds–Sen Van Hollen gets props, and Booker, and of course Bernie and AOC–but they should be embarrassed that they haven’t been out in front, saying this in front of cameras for weeks: the GOP congressional caucus has abandoned its constitutional responsibilities, letting Trump and Musk run amok, and it’s not least because they’re afraid of Trump.
A good decision, with lots of forthright and plain language about the government’s many failures.
This, tho’, near the end: “We yet cling to the hope that it is not naïve to believe
our good brethren in the Executive Branch perceive the rule of law as vital to the American
ethos.”
Your honors. Your “brethren” in the Executive Branch (btw, they’re not “good”) pee on the rule of law. They are lying, stealing, and cheating daily and hourly in an effort to render it null and void. The “American ethos” for them is an object of contempt, mockery, and organized hostility. They’re not gonna come around, folks. They need to be brung around.
I think they’re more afraid of Musk. They know how to deal with trump stuff, or the maniacal violence of his followers. But they barely know how computers work, let alon how to fix all the data breaches he made.
Maybe they fear he’s hacked into their pornhub accounts and is ready to blackmail them.
You know the old saying about honey vs vinegar. And I also think this is nothing more than a courtesy,
She could switch to an I, or even a D.
He’ll be coercing future governments into handing him fat govt. accounts with no oversight even when he’s moved to Dubai.
So with Murkowski saying this, Paul being a probable no, and Collins “concerned” the gimmick reconciliation will get 50 votes and a shove over the top by JD (if that’s his name) Couchmolester.
Assuming Fetterman doesn’t change sides of course.
Better than nothing, but still not great.
“her sometimes backbone-y friend Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME)”
For this moment, she made honest and dark confession. Yes, everyone is afraid. But she and her compatriots appear to have a more specific fear. They are being threatened. And it is time for them to stop pretending, stand up and take it. That is what they are there for, to do their job.
We can send men and women into combat with injury and death as a real potential. Republicans need to be mindful of that while they cower.
