MSNBC’s Steve Kornacki Visibly Stunned By Chris Matthews’ Abrupt Departure

A small incident I’ve shared here more than once. When he was interviewing then-candidate Kamala, he likened some event to “like losing your virginity” and drooled & giggled. He would never had behaved that way with a man.

The fact that he couldn’t get past sex when talking to women came through even when he didn’t make a scummy comment.

These were not back-in-the-olden-days events. It was definitely time for him to go!

No, I did not. Am storing that info promptly.

Maybe, but Williams has built himself a pretty good following at 11:00 East/10:00 central.

I haven’t been able to watch Matthews for years. I wanted to throw something at the TV every time he interrupted a guest, and that was constantly.

Ehh he was old. Old men lose their inhibition for discussing topics like sex, it’s part of their mental decline. Eventually they go on to grabbing asses even if they never would have done so when 20 years younger. It’s not just senility, it’s growing old. It will happen to the best of us.

To quote John Mclaughlin: bye bye!

Representative Walter Jones of North Carolina, he of the Freedom Toast bill insult because the French would not go along with Shrubs illegal war, was all rah rah as his district encompasses Fort Bragg North Carolina. Until a few months into the war and there were no WMDs but a lot of dead and wounded coming back to Fort Bragg, the ugly reality of any war let alone those based on lies. He had to acknowledge that the illegal invasion was a mistake and had to propose a new bill that changed the Freedom Toast label in the Congressional dining room back to French toast. All fun and games when the christian soldiers are marching off to war but not so much when they are returning in body bags and on gurneys by the thousands.

Matthews is considered a legend because he was the legendary Tip O’Neil’s long time chief of staff. The guy was in politics for decades and has seen and knows a lot. That said, as an anchor he was often judgmental, intolerant and insensitive. I hadn’t particularly noticed that his attitudes towards women were necessarily unusual in that regard. He was generally insensitive and rude to people about whom he was judgmental and intolerant, and that included. in particular, people on the left (let’s face it, coming out of Tip O’Neil’s orbit, he was a ‘Democratic party machine’ Democrat and he has admitted he is pretty conservative - he even admitted to voting for George Bush in 2000). So, had I seen that segment, I probably would have concluded that he did it because he doesn’t like Elizabeth Warren’s (my favorite candidate’s) politics and would rather see Bloomberg than Sanders or Warren.

I will admit I watched him with interest, because of the depth of his perspective, even though he occasionally (or maybe often) made me cringe. Anyway, he’s gone now - I just hope he doesn’t go over to FOX where he could definitely cause some trouble if he feels he was mistreated by NBC.

Edit: I will add that I just skimmed the Laura Bassett article and it is pretty damning.

Steve, Chris Matthew’s is a jerk. And a misogynist.

He does 10,000 odious things and apologizes (weakly) for one, when they force him too. You know this wasn’t his decision. No credit due, none at all. I used to work with at risk kids, and one of them told me another kid was really good because he had a job and didn’t steal. I told him everyone was supposed to have a job and not steal, if you want to be considered good you have to do more than the bare minimum. Years and years of lying for the bosses and abusing women and you want to give him credit for ONE time when they force him?

No credit due, none at all.

Not just the younger viewers he insulted but actually anyone with a brain no matter the age. He was so transparent in thinking people watching would actually believe his crap.

Williams belongs to an [earlier world of clubby, moneyed, establishment Democratic liberalism that, in these apocalyptic times, just won’t cut it.

His one medical problem morphed into another.

It’s been a long, long time since you could claim that his perspective and any depth - shallow is a word that fits him quite well.

Nicole Wallace or Katy Tur are ready to go to the majors. And they’ve got plenty of talent in the bullpen to fill the slot of whoever gets called up. But things being how they are, they probably try to bring Lauer or Halperin out of exile.

They could do much worse than Nicolle Wallace. She’s become one of my fav anchors, surprising given her history as a (former) Republican and a staffer for Bush Jr. and McCain. She tears Trump and her former party a new one on a regular basis.

She’s my fave too! I was recording her for a while because I am working when she’s on. I haven’t watched Hardball since Bush was in office.

I also love her sense of humor and quick wit.

More like American culture is toxic? America has always been far more sexist than racist. We know this as black males were granted the right to vote before women. Women were also deemed spousal property.

We need to fix the country. Instead, we have Donald in WH cheering on sexism with all his vulgar behavior as model to men nationwide.

It’s a corporate organizational issue in as much as they hire American men

I wish they’d slot in Joy Reid or Ari Melber into Matthews’ time slot. More so Joy, but Ari’s ready for prime time, too.
