MSNBC correspondent Steve Kornacki was left shocked by now-former colleague Chris Matthews’ sudden resignation on Monday night.
Steve Kornacki - the very definition of a nice guy who is fun to watch when he gets so excited about math.
Way past time for Matthews to go, I could barely stand having him on panels. Now if only chuck would follow suit…
I could not stand to watch or listen to Matthews. He talked over people, filibustered when he should’ve been asking questions and listening to responses, and was grossly insensitive. He was way past his pull date. I am glad he is gone.
When was Matthews a giant? He’s a legend only because so many wonder why a guest would go on his show to be interrupted and have his spittle in their face.
OTT, Steve. You don’t get it.
Whatever stops Kornaki from bouncing of the walls. I can’t watch him without feeling that I need to take a tranq myself.
I’ll give Matthews credit for 1) saying what he did was not l ok, 2) actually apologizing
Credit where credit is due. Couldn’t have been easy but he has women to come home to so he doesn’t want to get them pissed off at him.
@ralph_vonholst Kornacki’s next contract must contain no access to caffeine before he goes on air.
Matthews is terminally obnoxious. Todd is terminally useless. As little as I like either, I’ll take obnoxious over useless.
And Kornacki needs to lay off the caffeine.
I can’t imagine ever putting a colleague in that position, even if I felt like my giant faceless employer had done me grievous wrong. If I’d had a favorable view of Chris Matthews before, it would be diminished by this episode.
I’ll be watching old episodes OF sKin tight
I don’t think I’ve ever seen Steve Kornacki at a loss for words.
The barista must’ve shorted his quad grande salted caramel meth latte with triple espresso, double bennie white chocolate mocha, and half breve with extra coke drizzle last night.

Either cut off the caffeine, or maybe he needs to take his lithium. I think he’s hypomanic or bipolar. I’m not a fan of his politics, either. Leans right. And has no intrinsic insight into political polling or stats. He’s educated, though.

Nude selfies of John McLaughlin, Pat Buchanan, and Bob Novak?
It was pretty clear he was supposed to finish the show. Hell he even said ‘this is my last show’ in his comments but apparently he stormed off after the commercial break.
And good riddance. While his sexism is what did him in, it’s clear his alienation of any viewer younger than a babyboomer was starting to concern MSNBC. Between Chris Mathews and Chuck Todd comparing the very real and large chunk of younger Dem viewers to nazis got those viewers screaming at MSNBC all winter. And a media company can’t position itself as having a political leaning the way MSNBC does if you keep putting off the younger base of that political leaning (even if that postering is disingenuous the way MSNBC’s is). FOX doesn’t attack the conservative base for more than ideological reasons. MSNBC is slowly learning that lesson. I wonder if Chuck Todd got read the riot act too?
He wasn’t “visibly stunned”! He always looks like a dear in the headlights. It amazes me how he can keep his eyes that open constantly.
Maybe his departure was a coronavirus prevention measure…
I didn’t watch this. Did someone play that Enya song as he was talking?
Chris Matthews recently had prostate cancer- off the air last year for a few week. Chris has kind of lost it the last few weeks. He is 74 it was time to go. I’m sure no one knew he was going to leave after 5 minutes of his show. Chris could of done his entire show and signed off at the end. That was a FU to his bosses at the network.
