The motive for the mass shooting at a grocery store in Boulder, Colorado that killed 10 people, including a police officer, on Monday remains unknown after authorities arrested the suspected gunman.

Maybe the shooter was just, you know, having a bad day.

JHFC. Maybe guns should not be quite so readily available to every fscking lunatic…

One of the rumors out there is that the shooter was aiming at people getting the vaccine. Some of the victims had been in that line. Now, maybe because I’ll bet the vaccination site was at the front of the store, it was a coincidence.

So now they have something more to blame the Biden administration for, as mass shootings were down during the height of the pandemic - this one marks the 10th one so far this year. I’m sure the accusations are coming because people are stupid.

The police have been very tight lipped about this crime. I wonder why.

It looks like the killing started in the parking lot and moved into the store?

I read somewhere early this morning vaccinations were being done at the store. Sounds like this guy might have been near the end of line. A woman at the front of the line to get vaccinated was the first one shot according to a witness.
On a side note, I thought all stores had a policy of no shirt, no shoes, no service. Or did this guy start disrobing as he was killing people?

Did he buy the gun a few hours before the shooting as did the Georgia killer? It says he was the only person shot who survived, suggesting that he was using a gun and bullets suitable for major warfare, designed to inflict the most damage to a target. Those kinds of guns and ammo are, of course, readily available. I want this to be the impetus for the adoption, finally, of at least minimal gun control, including background checks for all, waiting periods and most of all an order to the CDC to start methodically collecting info on gun deaths and injuries. Now.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed

“A well regulated Militia” does not mean everyone can have gun.

Of COURSE the shooter was “taken into custody without incident and given treatment for his injuries.”

He IS A WHITE GUY (watch the video of them leading him out in handcuffs in his boxers with blood running down his right leg. Balding, Bearded, Black Hair, overweight, short White Guy.)

If he had been any kind of minority, they would have shot him 30 times “just to be sure”.

Almost certainly this will turn out to be another religious nutcase who killed multiple innocent people because “Bill Gates is putting Microchips in the COVID Vaccines!!!” or some other stupidity pushed by InfoWars and OANN and their ilk.

All I have to say is here we go again. I’ve now realized things were relatively calm on the shooting front until it started again.
If there’s one thing I would change it would be to get rid of guns but sorry for the cynicism, it’s never going to happen.
American on display for one of the most fucked up American past times, shooting people.

The Dickey Ammendment prohibits the CDC from the study of gun violence.
Just more American exceptionally stupidism.

While not a high priority, amendments can be reversed and this one should be (cite, prohibition in the Constitution).

I have been resisting the temptation to tie the shooting to the vaccination site. Let’s wait until we know more before jumping that conclusion.

If gun insurance was mandatory, the insurance companies would do a pretty good job of weeding out the high risk people. If you often purchase a hunting license and own bolt action hunting rifles, insurance cost should be minimal. Like a Ford Taurus is a lot cheaper to insure than a Corvette or muscle car.
Insurance companies did a pretty good job of preventing people who really needed health insurance coverage from getting it before the ACA was passed. I’m sure when multi million dollar settlements for deaths and medical care are on the line, they will screen gun owners very carefully. And often.

Used to be the case, yes. Jay Dickey was a very special gentleman from Arkansas. His idea was signed into law by Bill Clinton in one of those “omnibus” bills.

But two decades later, when Democrats took the House in 2018, the ban started to fray. The CDC was allowed to do the research; and actual money for it was then allocated in the federal budget.

Is it normal to not release his name almost 20 hours later? Why would they keep this secret? I mean, he offed an officer…you would think they’d be rather hostile to him and his well-being.
