More Than 7,000 Russian Troops Killed In Opening Weeks Of War

A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo.

“unacceptable and unforgivable rhetoric.”

Sounds to me like Putin is auditioning for a job as a GOP spokesperson.

I’m not sure who is taking what from whose playbook? Typically, the GQP takes note from Putie, but this time, doesn’t appear that way.

A deepfake video showing Volodymyr Zelenskyy surrendering worries experts : NPR

A fake and heavily manipulated video depicting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy circulated on social media and was placed on a Ukrainian news website by hackers Wednesday before it was debunked and removed.

The video, which shows a rendering of the Ukrainian president appearing to tell his soldiers to lay down their arms and surrender the fight against Russia, is a so-called deepfake that ran about a minute long.

7,000.

That’s almost half what it took the USSR nine years to lose in Afghanistan.

Wow.

What a clusterfucking SNAFU of a FUBAR this is.

I don’t think even TFG could have surpassed it. Though he would have enjoyed helping.

So it’ll be 3 - 4 months before we see the impact of this:

How Often Should I Get Botox?: Stefanie Feldman, MD: Aesthetic Dermatology (vitalityinstituteofagoura.com)

If you are in your twenties and using Botox preventively, you might want to schedule a treatment every 12 weeks. Otherwise, a maintenance series of injections scheduled every 12-16 weeks is probably sufficient. Since you can go right back to your day after Botox, you can get treatments during your lunch hour or on a day off and enjoy the results for months.

Depends on when he got his last ones.

Russian Oligarch’s Megayacht Stranded In Norway Because Nobody Wants To Fuel It

A yacht owned by former KGB agent and mining executive Vladimir Strzhalkovsky is currently stuck in northern Norway because local suppliers flatly refuse to sell fuel to it.

They could just pump the fuel into the bilge.

I’m reminded that there is nothing, nothing at all, about the war in Ukraine that is not tragic.

I wish we could find a way to punish the people here in the U.S. that helped set up the conditions for this invasion to take place.

I’ve begun to suspect that I’m not living in the dumbest of all possible timelines, but rather, the most evil.

Ya, and as Donnie consumes more cheeseburgers and taco bowls and gains weight and ages and the tattoo sags it begins to look like Charlie Callas rather than Vlad!

Putin’s loss in Ukraine might very well go down as one of the most significant events of the early 21st century. As recently as two months ago it appeared as though the right wing was slowly retaking the world. Putin was a major force in this movement that lead to such things as Brexit, Trump’s Presidency, Neo-fascist governments getting elected in eastern Europe and China’s hegemony in much of Asia.

Putin’s attempt and inevitable failure to take Ukraine appears to have completely stopped and, quite likely, reversed all of that.

In a rather ironic twist, Vladimir Putin might very well end up being the person who saved western democracy.

spokesperson Dmitry Peskov describing the President’s comments about Putin as “unacceptable and unforgivable rhetoric.”

But non-rhetorically bombing a theater full of civilians, that’s acceptable and forgivable.

It ain’t over 'til it’s over. I don’t want to be complacent that Putie has lost this war, because it’s not over yet and won’t be over until he says it’s over. I’m sure he’s got some tricks up his sleeve that he hasn’t shown the world yet.

Conventional wisdom says he has about eight days left to make this happen. Let’s re-visit this idea in ten or twelve days and see where we are.

Putin has lost because he can’t win. There’s no current path to victory for him. Right now, Putin’s only choice is to decide when and how to cut his losses. The longer he waits to choose, the more he loses.

What it tells me is that the next generation of Ukrainians will feel the same way about Russia as their parents and grandparents do now. Putie is banking on subjugating them now, but it’s not going to happen. The Resistance is there and will always be.
