More Than 7,000 Russian Troops Killed In Opening Weeks Of War

Again, let’s see where we are in a week and a half.

7,000 dead… and if the conventional wisdom ratio is applied that would suggest …
… 21,000 casualties?

… ponder for a moment the amount of personnel required to attend to 21,000 injuries … and the mobile resources … and food and water …
Oh … and how’s the food and water and general supplies for the remaining 150,000 or so that aren’t dead or injured?

According to Gary Kasparov, whom I wouldn’t argue with, let alone play chess, “we will see something dramatic in Russia” in the timeframe you mention.

“If we want to reduce drug prices, then we need to do it now,” Grassley said.

So…does that mean GrAssley will vote for it?

(Rhetorical question, obvs.)

Grassley acknowledged “the difficulty of passing something like this in a Republican Congress.”

Shorter Grassley: “We despise all of you as much as we despise governing.”

I think this tells you a lot about what driving Putin. One thing that’s striking, especially if you’re ready 19th century Russian lit as much as I have, is the hyper-anti-western rhetoric; it’s Dostoyevskian in the darkest, most reactionary sense. And there’s not much difference between what he says and what we here from our own Republican Party.

“Any people, and especially the Russian people, will always be able to distinguish the true patriots from the scum and the traitors, and just to spit them out like a midge that accidentally flew into their mouths.”

Same war, different front.

If nothing else, this conflict and the (sane) world standing united behind them will stiffen their resolve to remain free and independent. More power to them. Coming generations in Ukraine will point back to this time of trouble with pride.

(When we bought our house, our neighbor had a flag pole that was basically on the lot line. We asked him if it was okay with him to order a Ukrainian flag to fly above the German and EU flags – our neighbor was delighted that we did and brought us over a nice bottle of red wine after we put the flag up.)

Better get a pretty big sail.

That would match the Retired General Hodges speculation from the 14th … that an inflection point was about 10 days away .

Of course, if no significant resupplying happens before then … that inflection point is more like the edge of a cliff.
The Russian forces inside of Ukraine are going to be like Matt Damon in The Martian … by the time food / supplies could get to them … it will be way too late.

Who would want to look? Even Melania’s contract explicitly forbids that kind of torture.

Someone floated an idea awhile back to quit selling products and services to Rethugliklans in the D.C. area. While a quaint idea it would never work. People always go for the money. Just ask all the bankers, real estate brokers, lawyers etc. that helps oligarchs the world over launder and shelter their money.

There’s a reason why the capitol of England is called Londongrad.

“Same war, different front.” I first read that as “different font.” Could also apply.

Pat Robinson is too stupid to understand that it is much more powerful if you don’t have to point it out, because everyone knows you have the damned things.

(Pat Robinson is actually already dead – he just doesn’t know it yet because the rot has set in on his brain and so he keeps moving.)
