More than two months after the Trump administration flew more than 200 people to a detention camp in El Salvador, there’s still a lot that remains unclear. We still don’t know who, exactly, the government sent there. We don’t know how many people were aboard each plane that went from Texas to El Salvador on…
May I suggest a prisoner swap with Trump’s cabinet and others in his administration starting with Elon Musk.
Stephen Miller is certainly a contender for head of the line.
As far as I can tell, the only verified rapist in this story is Trump.

It was another significant setback but not a checkmate. Trump’s policy-making process is now referred to, by wags, as the TACO Trade or the Trump-Always-Chickens-Out negotiating style. He starts with braggadocio (“I’ll end the war in 24 hours” or “I’ll put 145% tariffs on China”), and then he changes deadlines, details, and decisions without explanation. Ironically, Trump’s chronic unpredictability is now “predictable,” and TACO is the new normal. For instance, on May 25, Trump said he was surprised by Putin’s hideous bombing attacks on Ukraine after their telephone call. “We’re in the middle of talking, and he’s shooting rockets into Kyiv and other cities…for no reason whatsoever,” he said, adding he may consider sanctions after all. “He has gone CRAZY…I’ve always said that he wants ALL of Ukraine, not just a piece of it, and maybe that’s proving to be right, but if he does, it will lead to the downfall of Russia!” Then, another about-face. When asked whether he was considering levying additional sanctions against Russia, which he has threatened several times, Trump responded: “Absolutely, he’s killing a lot of people.”
That would make tomorrow TACO Tuesday.
Backing up to 30K feet on the whole CECOT debacle. Trump made a blatant move to abuse the law in a step to make good on his promise to deport millions, which was never remotely realistic in legal or logistical terms. His audacious move leaked, and the repercussions have been rolling out ever since. Looking forward to ongoing unearthing and reporting of details on just how extra-legal this whole mess is.
Well this is not ominous, right?
See also this morning postponing the EU 50% tariffs for a month to July 9. “For negotiations.”
Remember how, centuries back during the presidential campaign, how Candidate Felon claimed there were “14 million illegals” that he would “deport on Day One”?
And what’s he done since then? Instead of locating any of those “illegals”, he’s been declaring totally legal classes of people to now be “illegal”. From Afghans who aided the US during its 20 year war in Afghanistan, to refugees granted protected status, to people who followed all the rules and were legally admitted. Also, a few actual bona fide US citizens snatched up off the streets. Oh, and let’s not forget all the foreign students!
What about all those “14 million illegals”? Did they ever even exist? Are they all working for the big Republican donors? What’s with the bait ‘n’ switch?
We still don’t know who, exactly, the government sent there.
Apparently, knowing names is too dangerous.
For us???
Doesn’t sound like the actions of a Fascist Dictatorship at all, no sirree Bob!
Nor big government.
before flying them to El Salvador for indefinite detention.
I, for one, am super impressed with the genius of having said that Putin wants something after Putin said he wants something.
I’ll second that.
Every day is Taco Tuesday in trumplandia.
The Cato Institute is tearing it up. Get 'em, Cato.
And the Heritage guys are really, really quiet.
I’m not sure what the repercussions are. He’s had a lot of rulings against his actions, but they don’t appear to be slowing him down or causing him to reverse very many actions. I know he released a couple of people from custody, but he’s ignoring most everything else.
I’m so old, I can remember when “Cato” was a right wing outfit. Guess they just didn’t keep up with the times.
About time. They’ve done more than enough with their “Project 1425” or whatever it was.
I think we’ve learned that the goal had very little to do with “illegal” immigrants, and everything to do with establishing that Trump, not the law, says who’s legal and who’s illegal.
