Montana Rep Zooey Zephyr Sues To Do Her Job

I’ve heard joking to the effect that we should encourage blue staters to move to red states to turn them purple or blue.

Thought Rep Zephyr could use a donation but her current website donate link is inop, via act blue. Any ideas?

My current best guess is that republicans are republicans because they like rigid social hierarchies. In particular, many of them define “manliness” as “not girly” (note the mismatch in maturity levels. The idea that men = independent and women =children = dependent has very deep roots. You can see it in the writings of the founding fathers)

the idea that a person can just up and choose to be in a different social category- particularly the oppressed one - is very destabilizing. And if one’s sense of self is threatened, obviously it’s the other person’s fault

When Republican Cynthia Lummis was elected in Wyoming in 2020, she won 198,100 - 72,766. The little town of Vallejo, CA, population 125,000, just north of Berkeley and Richmond, could relocate to Wyoming and have their own TWO Democratic senators if they all voted D.

She lost.

Since she only asserted claims under state law, she could have a second bite via the federal courts under the First Amendment.

In reality, not enough blue blue staters move to red states to make a difference. Instead, by swelling the populations of red states and shrinking the populations of blue states, they give the red states more seats in Congress, which are red due to gerrymandering.

We need more people moving to blue states.

E.g., the answer is “a lot”.
