Money Pours Into Michigan Senate Race Amid Tight Polls

Michigan is one of Republicans’ scant Senate pickup opportunities in a cycle that favors the Democrats — and the money being spent there reflects it.

Good. Nice to see he raised a few million. I love with the Dem Senators (Murphy, Booker, Schatz) put out the Twitter requests for donations to flip or save seats.

It seems pretty likely that Peters will hold the seat, especially with the strong showing by Biden in the polls. A single outlier poll isn’t a reason to worry, polling since has looked better for Peters, but it would be nice if he had a bigger cushion. It’s also a good sign that Democrats flooded Peters with money, it means people are taking everything seriously and working hard to win as much as possible. It’s all on the line, and no one should take anything for granted.

All the more money Fat Nixon has to pull out of the Florida market.

The internal polling must have them crapping in their binders…

unless they’re confident Florida can be stolen for the abomination no matter how the actual votes add up.

True, but as of right now, Fat Nixon could steal Florida and still lose by a bigly margin.

When Texas is considered a toss-up, a sea change is coming disguised as a Blue Tsunami…

According to RCP, Peters is up 5.2. That’s as of 10/20/20. Only the Republican Trafalgar Group shows the other guy up and that’s by one. Jesus, Democrats, stop loading your diapers. Or are we just looking at another media non story?

Though he’s favored to win, like Smith (Minnesota) and Cornyn, it’s disconcerting to see him below 50% and an undecided % sometimes near 10%.

What’s interesting (at least to me) is that Stabenow hasn’t endorsed him. He endorsed her, but it’s odd that she hasn’t returned the favor.

NYT/Sienna also had the GOP 1 point behind but, yes the poll are in favor of him holding the seat

Gleefully rubbing hands together think about a Presidential candidate losing his home state twice.

That’s one nice looking map!

People in my age bracket are whack. I don’t understand why being 50+ years old would make you more tolerant of pathologically lying, narcissistic assholes. With age does not come wisdom, I guess.

It’s only a nice map if young people vote. History is not on our side. I’m hoping the trend changes this year.

He’ll win by roughly the same percentage that Biden wins. I don’t see anyone not voting for trump, yet voting republican for the senate. Trumpers will vote a solid republican ticket. Everyone else will vote a solid Democratic ticket - or just stay home. Very, very few will split their vote across parties.

Michigan has straight ticket voting, so that will likely work in Peter’s favor. Peters is pretty low key, so low key that many voters think James is the Democrat because he is black. James is very aggressive, there has been a ton of DeVos money thrown at this race.

Tina Smith had a similar result today from an equally high quality pollster, so there is more than one race to worry about.

Polling has been odd. Peters runs 5 to 10 points above James but then James runs an attack ad and the polls narrow to a 3 or 5 gap. Peters runs (not as rapid a response as I would like ) a response add showing the attack ad is phony. Peters goes up and James goes down.

The fact checkers showed that the first anti-Peters ad was totally phony. Once you have seen that that is so, nothing James presents can be taken seriously.

James, on the other hand, is having a hard time rebutting the Peters attack ads because those are are largely quotes from him.

James is a charismatic good looking guy. Peters not bad but not stellar either. That James is black may tempt some blacks in the state who would otherwise not consider any one with his ideas.

So lying showboater against effective workhorse.

“Spooked”. “Panicked”. We don’t do “democrats in disarray” here. I can just read AP’s wire if I want that.

So many young people stayed home and pouted or voted for Stein or Johnson or wrote in Bernie’s name in 2016. That was due to the overwhelmingly negative press towards Hillary from the left, right and center media and Bernie so poisoning the well with his attacks on Clinton that his young followers could never come back and drink from that poisoned well even as he too late in the game begged them too. “Don’t try and blackmail me with the Supreme Court” seemed to be an all too common response from the millennials. How do you like reality now kids?
