Moderates Unite: Buttigieg Is Reportedly Planning To Endorse Biden | Talking Points Memo

I don’t mind Bernie, but he doesn’t seem to care about wanting to rein in his mob. Then he wonders why many folks don’t want to vote for him. They will be rampaging through Pete’s Twitter stat.

“doing good,” or “doing well”?

Sure, but then you might puzzle over the extent to which Sanders is supported by actual Democratic electorates. (Remember them?)

Is it possible that many voters don’t care primarily about club rules and secret handshakes?

Who knows how much these endorsements will help Joe tomorrow but they certainly won’t hurt him.

This is clarity that the voters have needed.

All the homophobia on social media directed at Buttigieg from the Bernie stans would ensure that.

Well, this isn’t Red China. We can’t arrest the Twitter hordes and send them off to Behavior Modification Camps! So, if there really is a problem in your estimation, what would you suggest Sanders actually do about it? If it’s a press release or interview transcript you’re hoping for, do you have some language you’d like to see in it?

By the way, speaking of Twitter, have you seen what sometimes passes for rhetoric around here? Yet I don’t expect any of the candidates to take an interest and ensure that everyone here is making nice. To me, even the thought of it is ridiculous.

Both, actually.

I’m only left wondering why we couldn’t have had this fairly obvious consolidation months ago. It feels somewhat like nobody wanted to be the first shoe to drop just out of a sense of personal pride.

Certainly we can agree the establishment wants an establishment nominee.

I wish I would have thought of that.

I am unmoved and plan to vote for Warren if she is still running at the time of the Michigan primary. We need a serious contender for a two term presidency. Biden, Bernie, and Bloomberg are simply too old to steer the country for 8 years. I have a lot of respect for Joe but he often seems confused and unfocused. Bernie and Bloomberg also have their issues. That being said, of course I will vote for whoever the Dems put up against Trump including a one-eyed Episcopalian kangaroo (hat tip to Neil Simon).

With various former candidates rumored or committed to endorsing Biden I’ll be curious to see how Bernie Nation comes to regard what they’ll surely perceive to be a pronounced antipathy towards their candidate by almost everyone but them.

More from the establishment gang that could not shoot straight.
This is a last ditch move of desperation to fend off Bernie. Their mistake was waiting so long, as so many votes have already been mailed in and can’t be changed.
I am an unabashed Bernie supporter, but will vote for whoever wins the nomination to defeat Trump. If it turns out to be Biden, this misstep does not bode well for the general.

I see the Democratic Establishment is starting to get behind the candidate who is:

  1. A lousy campaigner
  2. A lousy speaker
  3. A lousy debater
  4. A repeat liar / exaggerator
  5. Going to inspire no one to get out and vote who wasn’t already going to get out and vote
  6. Has stale ideas
  7. Bordering on a doddering fool.

What could possibly go wrong?

Of note: I am a huge Warren supporter and hope beyond hope that she finally gets some traction tomorrow. I will vote and donate to Biden if he is the nominee. I don’t dislike Joe. I just think it’s pretty obvious that South Carolina was the first primary he’s ever won in 3 Presidential runs. He’s very bad at this. Sanders, even with his many negatives, will be a much stronger nominee than Biden.

Ha!

It’s a little premature to be making any assumptions, but I fear the same thing will happen in 2020 that happened in 2016. If Biden prevails, Sanders supporters will feel alienated by the process and will not vote for the democratic nominee in the general.

Disunity assures a trump victory.

I care about what the reachable 90% of Bernie Sanders 2020 primary voters think about how the rest of the primary unfolds. I’m honestly not curious about the 10% that represents Bernie Nation.
