Paul Butler mentioned yesterday that they could charge the cops with manslaughter now just to get the justice ball rolling and up the charges to murder when the investigations are completed. They are totally blowing this and leaving the entire country at risk for exploding.
Oh, I get that. Seems that that was the spark yesterday, the announcement that they still were “looking into it”.
Was not displeased to see that they took out the precinct, torching regular businesses in a protest against the cops doesn’t seem right, but targeted vandalism can have a lot of symbolism.
Presidential Medals of Freedom all around?
Seems like everyone who has seen the videos agrees that there is probable cause to charge and arrest these cops.
George Floyd was arrested for supposedly passing a counterfeit bill. Was it? Any info on that yet?
Don’t disagree, I’m thinking of the qualified immunity shit, which has been successfully used by plenty of cops to get away with things that look totally obvious and would be murder if done by anybody else.
Trump moved his tagged tweet to the official WH twitter account, where it was also flagged.
Each action incrementally more mad than the previous. He needs his media attention. He might even see the media’s focusing now on Minneapolis and events there as detracting from the attention that’s rightly his.
The U.S. high court’s continual refinement of an obscure doctrine called qualified immunity has made it harder to hold police liable for excessive force.
I wonder if the SS had anything like that, not that they needed it.
Shit, 4 out of 6 headline articles on TPM aren’t about trump.
That’s like a record.
No wonder he’s pissed off.
“Ingroups who the law protects but does not bind and outgroups who the law binds but does not protect.”
Hey, this is distracting from his virus failure so expect it to continue for some time if trump can ride it out in to the summer and pervert it for the election.
donnie has already Twitter threatened to send in the military
We’re not in Kent State times anymore. Doubt that the National Guard will be happily firing on citizens these days.
I’ve been wondering the same thing…plus even if it was, did he know that? Not that this is an death penalty offense.
That seems uncharacteristically optimistic of you.
I don’t think he cares about the virus anymore. He’s bored with it. On to other chaos.
I don’t know about that. I am sure there are just as many depraved individuals sprinkled in the national guard as there are in law enforcement. Not mention 3% and their fellow travelers gravitate to these types of organizations. The fact that they arrested CNN reporters does not bode well.
He did choose to rant about twitter instead of mentioning the 100,000 dead landmark. Boooooring!
I sincerely hope not. Just don’t see the Army wanting to get caught up in the furor that would erupt if a Soldier was to shoot anyone. They’d rather show up, if they have to, and do peace-keeping, like a show-of-force presence that just discourages people from attempting to burn buildings and the like without really taking any action.
I’m sure there are a few, there always are. But in general the military does a good job of weeding out the extremists, plus, with the military justice system, there are all sorts of ways for them to punish people who step out of line.
Not bored…worried.
