With Michigan’s Tuesday primaries looming on the horizon, Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson (D) is preparing for the very real possibility that rogue canvassers may try to hijack the election certification process on the basis of voter fraud lies.
The fascistgop could not make their disdain for democracy any more apparent than by proudly proclaiming their refusal to participate in free and fair elections.
Their fascism, their contempt for our constitution, their contempt for women, their contempt for law enforcement personnel (of the non-fascist variety) must be hammered on in all upcoming election campaigns. They’ve defined themselves so let’s hang that definition around their necks for all voters to see.
The J6 committee hearings have been an excellent vehicle for highlighting the rot that republicans are apparently so proud of. Now we must take advantage and shine the light of truth upon them.
I work for the local Board of Elections (NYC) so I’m not too worried. I’ve never seen any kind of voter shenanigans during the previous elections I’ve worked, but this year may be different. There is always a policer officer on duty, so I’m not freaking out. I’m far more concerned with my fellow poll workers in red states. Good luck.
“If it is not (followed), we are in touch with local law enforcement, as well as local clerks, to ensure that any disruptions or illegal activity is dealt with swiftly, so we can minimize any potential impact … on the elections,”
For what it’s worth: “Step out of line, the men come and take you away.”
So, people who interfere at the polls will be found out. I imagine some who are thinking about shenanigans understand this. But there must be others who do not.
Not sure what happens if they show up wearing balaclavas. Perhaps voters who are present will unmask them.
Agreed and all of that contempt arises from their unexamined racism and white nationalist Christian beliefs. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that we have really crappy schools in America that don’t teach children how to examine problems for themselves and don’t instill basic tolerance for others.
Turn your phone on video. Park it in your shirt pocket such that it has a clear shot of what’s going on around you. Leave it on until you exist the poling place. If they don’t see you holding a phone they’re more likely to cross the line. You NEED video. The police are largely in cahoots with voter suppression and will not do shit unless forced to.
Three Republican-led counties in Pennsylvania — Berks, Fayette and Lancaster — have refused to count all valid votes from the May 17 primary election for Senate, Congress, governor and the state legislature for weeks over opposition to the state’s rules regarding undated mail-in ballots.
Officials in all three counties informed the state last month that they would not count mail-in votes that had not been properly dated, according to the Associated Press.
Pennsylvania mail ballots instruct voters to write a date next to their signature on the outside of mail-in return envelopes, although these dates do not determine whether voters are eligible or if votes were cast on time. A federal appeals court ruled in May that undated mail-in ballots must be counted, ruling that the dates are “immaterial.” The U.S. Supreme Court, even with three Trump-appointed justices, allowed the ruling to stand last month. A state court similarly ruled in the Republican Senate primary that undated ballots should be counted.
The Pennsylvania Department of State earlier this month sued the three counties, asking a state court to order them to include all valid ballots “even if the voter failed to write a date on the declaration printed on the ballot’s return envelope.”
The department said in the lawsuit that the handwritten date “is not necessary for any purpose, does not remedy any mischief and does not advance any other objective,” and that “allowing just three county boards to exclude votes that all other county boards have included in their returns creates impermissible discrepancies in the administration of Pennsylvania’s 2022 primary election.”
I don’t expect any problems here in my part of St. Louis County, MO. But I do wonder about places in small towns, which I would think are run by the same people every election. If you know the person outside of elections wouldn’t it be harder to rat fuck the process?
