She added that her office’s investigation remains ongoing, and that investigators have “not ruled out potential charges against additional defendants.”

Like, I dunno, um, perhaps whomever created and pushed this scheme and recruited them to be fake electors in the first place?

They claimed to have been “Duly Elected” Somebody was dumb as they come.

Didn’t see this one coming. Bang. It is a tough day to be a MAGA crook.

Worth noting that the Michigan AG has been working on this case since it was first learned that the fake electors existed… so she’s not that much faster, apparently, than “Merrick the Meek.”

Anyway, it seems like a pretty good week for the whole “finding out” phase, for a bunch of folks.

Until high ranking Republicans get 10+ year sentences their criminal actions will continue.

Importantly these are state charges, not federal. So even if Trump wins he can’t pardon these people.

About time - Michigan Republicans are about the worst of the worst - physical fights - banning signs but not guns from the legislature - reverting back to 1920s abortion law - awful and they need to suffer the consequences of their awfulness.

Interestingly, Jack Smith subpoenaed AG Nessel not all that long ago, so she spoke to a Federal Grand Jury about, presumably, she’d learned about the scheme.

I suspect a number of Mr. Trump’s lawyers are going to end up being defendants in a Federal case.

Actually, she handed the case off to the DOJ around January 2022, reopening it locally only more recently.

This is a wild ride we’re on, and I thought Watergate would be my only political historical moment, yet I’m a witness to another historic political hurricane to hit our shores. Amazing!

Yep. The New Mexico and Pennsylvania contingents were smart enough to include a disclaimer, and they’re likely to stay uncharged because of it.

As another poster noted, these ideas originated somewhere else…perhaps in our nation’s capital? Big house on Pennsylvania Avenue? The more I see of this, the more convinced I am that there will be retribution. Just not the way he thinks it’s going to happen. Again, my powers of prediction are notoriously unreliable, but it’s looking pretty good for the prosecutors. We shall see.

Trying to understand, so DOJ gave it back for the state to prosecute?

I believe she reopend it because DOJ hadn’t acted.

It needs to be repeated verbatim. They were fake electors meaning it’s a forgery. It’s a coordinated attack on democracy, not talking about trying to purchase beer with a fake ID.
Years from now we’ll probably be subjected to the interviews with the seemingly guilt ridden fake electors. “I got drawn into the MAGA cult and believed him…”
