Nice, but it took a conspiracy to kidnap the governor to make this happen?

Looks like there’s gonna be a run on supplemental testosterone now that the boi’s have been emasculated. Again…

Why isn’t this a federal law?
How Third World!

So before this, the pen truly was mightier than the sword. Any kind of electioneering material within 100’ of polling places was already prohibited, but guns were OK.

The second amendment is so much more powerful than the first. Just ask Justice Barret. Because… textualism …

My question is will the Democrats have the guts to enforce such a ban.

That is if idiots show up on election day at the polls carry AKs or AR or even just handguns, will the Democrats have the guts to do whatever is necessary to prosecute the law?

And the Supremes will helpfully rule this is an unconstitutional move in about 2 weeks when it winds its way to them.

So, this assures that every ammosexual and militia-boy in the state are going to flock to the polls, armed, daring local law enforcement to do something about it.

They are going to go apeshit

As long as they flock to polls in their own districts that might be OK.

Seriously, I have a feeling that local law enforcement is on notice for this one. Does Michigan still have that republican law on the books that lets the governor take over any municipal government she wants?

This is worth calling your own Secretary of State and asking for the same ban.

@paulw and @steviedee111 This also leads to the additional problem of uniformed police near the polls, which is yet another form of potential voter intimidation.

These people are the reason we can’t have anything nice. (And I never thought I’d quote my mother.)

So, with all the usual stuff a local PD will have on their plate on election day, Barney and Andy are going to confront 53 guys with AK-47s down at the Mayberry polling place?

A better question is what the police will do when somebody breaks this law. It’s not a matter of what Democrats will do, all they have to do is call 911. What matters is whether the cops will not only show up, but also take violators of the law into custody.

In the “wild” west, many towns had laws that you couldn’t carry weapons while in the city limits.

How the fork are we celebrating not being strapped at a polling places?

Gov. Whitmer needs to be in close contact with the FBI monitoring local “militias” and other groups, ready to send in the MI National Guard to back up the police where needed.

With everything else going on in her state right now including the Gang That Couldn’t Kidnap Straight plot, I’ll be surprised if that isn’t already in the planning stages. I don’t think it’s unconstitutional to use the Guard in that capacity. And hey, if Donnie can do it in DC…

Christ, this is gonna open up a can of worms. Watch for all manner of bazooka-toting assholes strutting around polling places in wraparound sunglasses like shabby armor-clad peacocks.

How the hell did we sink so damn far?

Michigan has one of the most lax open carry laws of any state. Apparently you can open carry anywhere, even inside government buildings. Needing a special ban for election day only seems weird because Michigan is so weirdly stupid on gun issues.

How long before the state/national GOP bring suit? Claiming a terrible 2nd Amendment violation? #voteblue #dumptrump
