They would have zero legal standing, and such “alternate slates of electors” would never even be recognized as existing.
Federal law prohibits such displays of sedition.

Absolute B.S. Trump set out from the beginning to try to replicate his squeaker of an Electoral College victory. If he’d had to win a popular vote victory, he wouldn’t have won in the first place (and Hillary hardly represented the extreme end of the Democratic party) and would certainly have had to have governed differently.
There is simply no viable argument for the EC. Where the candidates go? In the internet era, who cares where they visit? Trump underperformed in counties where he held rallies and Biden won by stating home mostly. Focuses attention on small states? No, the swing states are generally large. The small states are largely deep red, with a couple of deep blues.

I’m not as clear on who gets to do the certification of the EC. I can see either house of Congress behaving the opposite of the other.
Of course, the GA runoff could change that theory.
OT: I don’t imagine that TPM will be doing a live blog of the EC vote, since it seems there will be some sort of broadcast?

People threatening violence on public servants and elected officials?
“Lock them up!” might be appropriate here… why is no-oe being arrested and charged with these actual crimes?
People surrounding the SoS’s house at night, armed and shouting threats, and no-one arrested? Not even for trespassing? It seems to me like ‘law enforcement’ in MI is actually encouraging it through inaction.

Michael Moore isn’t as influential as you might think here in Michigan…and probably for good reason. He’s a bit of a contrarian (who isn’t?). They love him in the national media as the quintessential liberal Michigander though. He’s good at voicing his concerns as a fellow Michigander, but he has a tendency to take it one step too far often times, often going after liberals themselves, imo. He drives me nuts. I can only take him in small portions anymore.

Yes, the faithless electors can be prosecuted in some states, but remember what patriots they are. A small price to pay for saving us from “socialism.”
They think if this happens, they can take it to the Supreme Court and have the election thrown out and Trump installed. (“See! Biden got more votes than he was entitled to, and Trump less! The election was rigged!”)

Yep. Read Steve Schmidt’s tweet to AOC about the Lincoln Project and the Squad working together. I want to believe (and did give $) to the LP. But Schmidt brought us Sarah Palin… so trust but verify. We need to gather up all the sane conservatives to save our republic first.
