They are in for a shock. 81 million Americans said otherwise.
Trump lost fair and square. His claims that it is not over are just as much a fable as.his claims Covid would vanish.
One of the.problems is that the Trumpsters refuse to recognize reality and are wiling to expose themselves and others to Covid. Which means more public actions.byntheur side.
So the GOP side sees Trump’s large and enthusiastic rallies and says ‘Wow, this guy is really popular.’ The rest of us, the actual majority, watch Biden campaigning from his basement and say’Well, at least this one is sane and look.at Trump’s rallies and see them as both cruel.and foolish. So we all vote in November and all the folks in the GOP bubble have no idea what hit them.
We need to.hold some humungous rallies of our own as soon as.the vaccine makes it safe.
A good friend (he’s an attorney who has handled some legal matters for us) is a town judge in a suburban town in NY that used to be Republican, but is now Democratic. He’s been a town judge for many years. He has always run on the R ticket dating back to when NY Republicans were folks like Jacob Javitz, He hates Trump and certainly did not vote for him.
I asked him why he hasn’t switched parties and he said that party switchers rarely win, which is generally true. Town judge really shouldn’t be a partisan position since they handle stuff like arraignments, traffic violations and minor civil cases.
I believe within a group of people that only talk among themselves they then tend to discount anything coming from outside the group, especially if it contradicts how they see the world.
This is groupthink, no?
Trump tapped into a form of TRIBALISM. Tribalism can negate logic, particularly if and when the Tribal leader deems it acceptable (or desirable).
There is a permanent battle to be waged in this kind of Tribalism.
And it’s fun for people who like the high that it brings.
In my life, I have had the opportunity to become a member of a Tribe. Each time, I have turned it down (as have most everyone posting here on this website)
The Free Press has a list of Michigan electors who will be voting today with some info about them. I loved this one.
Carolyn Holley grew up in a Republican household. “My dad always told me I should vote for the person and if I wasn’t sure, vote for the party,” she said. “Because of that, the first time I voted for Nixon, and I’ve been trying to make up for it ever since.”
I wish more people would stop listening to fatherly advice like that.
I just read possibly the most self-refuting article on the electoral college ever published.
tl;dr - the electors are more likely to elect people of good character than the masses are, and abolition of the electoral college would mean that candidates would primarily campaign where their base voters are. I assume there was an appendix stating up is down and 74>81, but I didn’t get all the way through this birdcage liner.
Pelosi ought to refuse to recognize them. If they want to argue that the election is fraudulent it is fraudulent as to them as well and they are estopped.from arguing otherwise.
