The way things have been going recently, I would tend to vote for the latter…

Maybe Ocasio is a little over-rated, but mostly because the RWNJs keep holding her up (as they did Sanders) as evidence that Democrats back witches and demons instead of debating her -or anyone else- on the merits of any topic. They, more than anyone else, want her to be seen as the dark side of Democratic politics.
She isn’t. She’s just another capable Democratic politician who will rise or fall -or both- on her own decisions and talent.

That’s misleading, as numerous sources have attested.
For example, in the NYT (June, 2012), we have this:

Totally agree with you…and these people are extremely greedy, corrupt and short sighted.
I like to deal with metaphors.
And the only thing I can say in a forum like this is to recall the countless times I have flown away from a country with real dictatorship government and into the arms of the United States of America.
And I can conjure up those feelings on DEMAND (even when watching reruns of The Andy Griffith Show.)
