This transition is one of those cases in which a guy’s departure & arrival make both institutions marginally smarter. That’s how awful the GOP scene is.

Of course Meadows is lying, none of this is true.
Either he fears being voted out of office, or his criminality is about to surface and bite him in the ass, but do-nothing showboats like Meadows rarely give up the spotlight to help ANYONE but themselves.

JustSecurity has an article out that points out that many refuse to believe they were manipulated by FB & Russia Propaganda, although both GOP Senante Report and Intelligence Reports document it very well. That they accept it is just Democracts who are just out to belittle them. Enter, the dangerous Trump/Guiliani plan to manipulate them further than just the Dog Whistles that can indeed be attributed and researched.

Hmm. I admit I was thinking in terms of effort expended. Pissing off allies is certainly a thing he’s done, no doubt about it. And it’s certainly benefited the person he did it for. But if all you have to do in order to achieve some object is to wake up in the morning and be your idiot self, is that achieved object an accomplishment? That’s my question there.

The hardwood industry in Meadow’s district is being hurt by Trump’s tariffs. Here is a quote from an article in the Wilkes Journal-Patriot, a small, local newspaper:
In a May 23 email to a Meadows staffer, Minton said the western North Carolina lumber industry is dominated by conservative Republicans. “I have talked and discussed with many of them and if the tariffs continue to devastate their businesses… there will be consequences. Elections matter. I believe the congressman should take care of the people in his district instead of President Trump.”

Meadows hinted at the mid-term exit when he told Politico that he’ll stay in his seat until “it’s decided that I can best serve the President and the American people in a different capacity.”
The honorable gentleman would better serve the American people as a parking lot speed bump than he is now.
