McConnell Tries To Woo Manchin Into Joining GOP After BBB Blowup

President Joe Manchin has no reason to switch parties unless and until it gives the Republicans the trifecta of House, Senate, and the White House. And even then, he might prefer to keep the Senate under Dem control so he can continue to torture us.

Hopefully he will find the prison yard a little less congenial than the Harvard yard.

OT: Speaking of nauseating nincompoops…

Donald Trump seems unable to settle on what happened during Jan. 6. First they were “patriots,” then “low class,” then “great people.” Now they may have been the FBI—another theory thoroughly debunked by fact checkers. Trump concurred with alarmist extraordinaire Candace Owens during her radio show that the riot may have been a false flag operation, citing the “reporting” done by acclaimed journalists Tucker Carlson and Joe Rogan. “Right, it seems like that,” Trump affirmed. “And you have BLM and you had antifa people. I have very little doubt about that and they were antagonizing and they were agitating.” The FBI has long concluded that antifaand other groups were not responsible for the Jan. 6 insurrection, nor were there any credible notions of FBI informants spurring the attack.

He’ll likely get sentenced to somewhere between 2-5 years at a guess. But he wasn’t accused or convicted of anything related to espionage, just taking a large amount of Chinese cash that went undisclosed to the feds in exchange for recruiting foreign scientific talent to China.

Manchin would end his status as the ‘singular lawmaker’ in the Senate as a Republican. He will fade into the crazy across the isle and never be heard from again. Mark my word.

I know for a FACT that they were The Squad and their Jihadi terrorist woke friends in disguise, along with a small army of unemployed Elvises due to the fake Soros pandemic. How do I know this? I read it on the internet, so it MUST be true!

Well wondering about “allowed” is also derived from an entirely unfounded idea that political parties in the US have that much control any more.

The reality is in any case that unless and until the Dems have a game to get more territory in swing states, there is no party leverage over him. Nothing challenging from his Left is going to survive a General election. So no fear of primaried.

Et voila.

So instead of people whining and attacking Manchin, realise that the overall political footprint needs expansion.

I think the guy is so rich he doesn’t give a rat’s ass.

Alarming how light the sentence will be for agreeing to provide services that weaken our country’s security and strengthen another’s. What am I missing here? Proving intent again?

It is interesting how provincial the national news coverage is with respect to inflation. Inflation, particularly rising food and energy costs, is happening everywhere on the planet. You can blame Biden, blame the QE polices of the Fed, etc. but it’s covid, which is also happening everywhere on the planet.

The fact that it’s not a crime to recruit scientific talent to come work in China.

I mean, if you think that should be a crime, wait 'til you hear about what nearly every American consumer products company is doing in China.

Maserati Mansion and Moscow Mitch are in many ways perfect for each other. Two more bad faith actors than they do not exist.

Manchin won’t do this, because in the GOP he’s just another Senator, one of 51.

Staying a Democrat means he stays “Da Man” - the guy everyone has to pay attention to.

This crap ain’t funny anymore. I know, it hasn’t ever been. I am full of wrath, and I want something terrible and swift to happen to these people. I’m turning into the caricature of John Brown as portrayed by Ethan Hawke in the Good Lord Bird. (The wife and I were watching that and I said that I could be that guy, and she turned it off.)

I think Sinema is the one who be more likely to do it. Manchin is stuck in his ways and just uses the threat as a threat. She, however, is younger and a completely 1-dimensional person whose overriding ruling attribute is self-centered ambition. If she’s confronted with obscurity and being disempowered by the Dems managing to somehow have won 52 seats, I could totally see her switching to the GQP where she would know she would be treated as a star and a folk hero for having done so. Faux News would have her on daily to sing her praises and lick her feet.
