McConnell: ‘Total’ Faith In Fauci | Talking Points Memo

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) on Wednesday threw his support behind Dr. Anthony Fauci as the White House continues its efforts to discredit the top official in its coronavirus task force.

HHS has seized all rights to hospital data from the CDC. Sometime in the near future COVID fatalities will be down to 96,000.

The question Mr McConnell really is: Do you still have faith in Donald Trump?

So is Mitch thinking voters with a brain are gonna matter this fall? Interesting.

They are trying to block the sun with a finger…the Chinese could not do it , the Russian could not do it, and they have people smarter than morons Kudlow and Navarro.

Dr. Fauci worked to keep America safe!

MoscowMitch worked to keep Trump in office!

McConnell and his fellow Senate Republicans don’t want to extend the bill’s extra-$600-a-week unemployment benefits, which were enacted in March but are due to expire on July 31.

Yet McConnell and his ilk are happy to give away trillions of dollars in bailouts to Wall Street bankers and corporate executives. They quietly inserted into the last COVID relief bill a $170 billion windfall to Jared Kushner and other real estate moguls. Another $454 billion went to backing up a Federal Reserve program that benefits big business by buying up debt.

Hey MoscowMitch…
Where is are the HEROES Act pandemic aid to Mainstreet?

Senate Republicans are finally starting to turn on Trump. By September, the mutiny should be in full swing. That’s when things will really start to get fun.

Fauci is a highly credible professional scientist. He’s earned his credibility over decades of service. Faith has absolutely nothing to do with it. You either accept his experience and expertise or you don’t. And if you don’t, then he’ll see you again later.

Maybe just voters who want to keep themselves and their families alive.

I’m not understanding the game plan here. Or am I giving them too much credit? Trump is going ‘full Putin’ with his Ministry of Truth (trying) to control the data and the ‘reality’ of the narrative. Works great with Pravda, so why not here? (Well, it DOES work on the Faux news covidiots - so it keeps them in line)

Is Moscow Mitch trying to- I dunno - establish a plausible lifeline for sticking with ‘the party’. “Well tRump is just a bit awkward in his phrasing, he’s a business man after all… but we’ve got this. Stay with us.”

Honestly - it makes so little sense - that I think they have no choice but to go all in on the ‘big cheat’ come election.

Too little, too late. McConnell and his facilitators and backers, and the whole lot of them made a deal with the devil, and the devil won, obviously. Now the country suffers. They might have been patriots once, but no longer.

MoscowMitch has zero faith in Trump. He is not stupid. But he only cares about power, and if he has to sell out the US to Russia or China to be relevent for another 2 years (majority leader) or 6 (another term) he will do so.

The problem is that what Trump is doing re Covid-19 is toxic, particularly in the suburbs. MoscowMitch can read polls, he has good consultants, and he knows this is killing the party in IA,CO, AZ, NC, ME, GA, and may also kill it in MT, TX, KS, AK, and god forbid KY.

That is why he is trying to put some distance between himself and Trump’s raging fire at the sewage treatment-nitrate plant.

People like Stephen Moore and Peter Navarro attacking someone like Anthony Fauci is the essence of Trumpism.

And it makes me want to vomit.

I’ve said this elsewhere and will say it again, having grown up in the state, watching this monster forming before our eyes. Mitch knows exactly what he is doing, which is threading the local needle to get just enough constituents’ votes to make it back to D.C. for another six years. With these short-and-sweet Aspartame-flavored area hospital visits, grocery stores, etc so they think he’s on their side regardless of what’s actually happening to them from what’s going on in Washington. Especially as a counterbalance to their new “barely elected” Democrat guvner.

Next question: have you had a conversation with the WH about the character assassination that they are committing?
BTW–I had just tuned into a press conference with the Governor of Oklahoma when he announced that he had tested positive. Feels fine, blah, blah, blah. But the kicker was that he had been tested “yesterday” and then received his test results by about 12:30 yesterday.
That makes all the people waiting for days and days feel a lot better, I’m sure.
