The holidays were anything but productive for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) to figure out how to manage the Senate impeachment trial.

Schumer wants a trial and McConnell wants it all to go away…

In a nutshell, Mitch “Let’s quit the charade” McConnell is still planning on coordinating, conferring and being led by trumPP’s defense team as he told the Fox audience,

Moscow Mitch was too busy with his own re-election campaign.

Thursday, congressional aides said that McConnell and Schumer failed to communicate over the holidays on how to resolve their disagreements regarding the Senate impeachment trial.

Sounds a tad “bothsidesey” to me.

McConnell, Schumer Made No Progress
Over The Holidays On Senate Trial

This could go on all year as far as I’m concerned.
Releasing new and relevant documents.
Allow Trump’s toadies to incriminate him/themselves.
Adding articles of impeachment.
Letting every GOP politician twist in the wind.

Let it ride!

No trial means no “exoneration”.

“Please DON’T proceed, Mr. Leader.”

The Houdini-like contortions of the BothSiders astound me.

If Trump wins, the Fourth Estate will resemble what is found commonly throughout Latin American history.

I just finished yet another volume on this (just to keep up to speed).

The thing that makes Trump worse than anything Latin America has ever produced is that Trump has imposed this type of thing in three years…in a country which has immeasurable advantages over Latin American countries…too many to list and describe.

They failed to communicate? Like they tried and were somehow unable, or what? Did their grandkids leave everyone’s phones off the chargers? Were there sunspots?

“What we’ve got here is… a failure to communicate. Some men you just can’t reach.”

Not is honor, integrity, or allegiance to the US Constitution.

Because one of the (only) two political parties has completed enabled it. And when they’re aligned with the biggest corporations, banks, etc., we really don’t have a chance.

So, it sounds like McConnell’s “plan” is to hear opening statements and then take a vote as to whether to proceed. This probably only needs a majority to pass, so when “proceed” fails to pass, game over.

McConnell has been at an impasse with Democrats since January 20, 2009.

Moscow Mitch wants a sham process to acquit Trump, no matter what he did. That’s why he wants to evidence of any kind, including testimony. Trump can never do wrong for Moscow Mitch. He just doesn’t care about fulfilling his constitutional duties.

the real danger here is that McConnell will give Schumer what he asks for – agree to have the Senate subpoena witnesses and documents at the start of the trial.

and then what happens? The subjects of the subpoenas all pull a Kupperman, and go to court for a decision on whether they have to testify, or whether they have to obey Trump’s directives.

At which point, McConnell throws up his hands and says “when the House was faced with this kind of situation, it chose not to delay its proceedings, and withdrew its subpoena for Mr Kupperman. For the same reason – avoiding a delay in our proceedings – the Senate will follow the precedent established by the House, and withdraw its subpoenas”

And McConnell will get away with it, because the American people will accept his explanation, because what’s good for the goose is good for the gander…
