McConnell Fundraising Ad Vows To Kill Impeachment In Senate

I predict long House impeachment proceedings that lay out all the corruption in gory irrefutable detail, followed by a near-instantaneous disposal of the issue in the Senate trial, through which the Republican Senators show themselves to be entirely uninterested in preserving the Constitution. Trump and the Republican Party are walloped in subsequent elections, and the GOP never recovers. It’s a win-win-win situation.

Mr. McConnell is simply dreadful and has no regard for anyone but himself or his party. As soon as he appears on the TV, the channel almost changes by itself.

Actually, Moscow Mitch can’t stop the impeachment; that’s all up to the House. The only thing he has any control over at all is what the Senate does on the question of conviction and removal from office.

They are mostly all willing to go down with the ship. Conviction will never happen so the Dems should keep this impeachment investigation going for as long as possible. In McConnell’s statement last week he said he would have no choice but to hold the hearing but in the next breath he suggested the trial would be very short lived. This ad highlights that sentiment. I don’t believe the majority of Repugs will acknowledge reality regardless of what WB or evidence comes to light before 2020.

The Ballad of Donald Trump’s Voters

The farmers and miners and truckers,
they all believed Trump’s lies.
But now they just watch in confusion as their livelihood
slowly crashes and dies.

He promised them “Great”, they got tariffs,
He promised a wall to his sheep.
He promised a holy revival, but all of the players were creeps.

He promised old Putin the Ukraine,
He promised parades full of brass,
He promised the Army a trillion, then sent them to cover his ass.

Down on the Mexican border,
(you know, it belongs to them too)
They kidnapped children and put them in cages,
in the name of me and you.

Call it whatever you want to,
the sad fact will always remain,
Trump committed crimes on humanity,
and he did it in all of our names.

Lemme give it a shot…

MoscowMitch is now in a stronger position than ever, because Pelosi waited so long to move on impeachment that the public got bored with it, so now she’s going to cost us the House and the presidency next year.

“All of you know your Constitution,” the Republican senator says. “The way that impeachment stops is a Senate majority with me as majority leader.”

It’s ambiguous enough to provide plausible deniability, regardless of how he handles it. At the same time, it conveys the impression to rubes who want to read it that way that he’ll be looking out for Donnie and so is a worthy recipient of the hard earned monies.
Really, Mitch is gonna do what looks like it’s best for Mitch.

So Robets gets to preside over a vote to convict or acquit. So what? McConnell can control the length of the trial and end it very abruptly shortly after it begins.

Not in this case. The whole point of the impeachment over Ukraine is that this is an urgent and current matter which threatens the stability of our country and the security of our next election.

Drawing that out for months would undermine the entire premise, and give republicans an opening to say that it must not be that serious, or the Dems would have moved on it.

No, this needs to keep its momentum, Pelosi announced it with a rather strict timeline, I expect the vote on articles of impeachment to happen sometime just prior to November 21 when the next CR runs out.
