Too little, too late.

I can’t imagine an action, any action, that would redeem McConnell. A speech? Nah…

While over on the House side there’s Chip Roy (R-Texas), who appears to be a grade A+ asshole but released this statement Sunday:

Roy, leading a half-dozen others, released a statement Sunday declaring that, President Trump’s temper tantrums and the GOP’s own disappointment notwithstanding, lawmakers have no choice but to accept the electoral college results that have been certified by the states: “The text of the Constitution is clear. States select electors. Congress does not. Accordingly, our path forward is also clear. We must respect the states’ authority here. Though doing so may frustrate our immediate political objectives, we have sworn an oath to promote the Constitution above our policy goals.”

So what’s the proper etiquette when one of theirs is acting in a correct and proper manner?

Never mind the undermining of democracy, the boredom of hearing the same old arguments time and again, and still getting the same result.

Tweet some insults in all caps. Call him RINO.

Amazing how losing absolute power breeds humility.

Fuck off, Yertle, your time is thankfully / belatedly over.

It’s remarkable that Mr. Obstructionist itself is the one that will “uphold democracy”. Tells you how low Republicans have gone.

Btw, in a way isn’t he a lame duck now?

“Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is expected to deliver a speech on Wednesday”

I think this sentence needs to be edited…

“So what’s the proper etiquette when one of theirs (Rep. Chip Roy) is acting in a correct and proper manner?”

Since oath to Constitution is literally in the job description, I say we let him keep his job for now.

It’s good to see that even Mitch McConnell can do the right thing from time to time. I know there’s not a lot of love for him here but, this time, he deserves credit. Not much credit, maybe, but credit nonetheless.

Edit: People! Can you lighten up a bit? We won last night, okay? Try to put aside the bitterness for a day or so. McConnell is actually doing the right thing here and not acknowledging that is a sign of blind hatred which, by the way, has never accomplished anything positive.

Mitch, if you’d done this in late November, given the same speech word for word, you’d almost certainly be Senate Majority Leader next month.

But you didn’t. So you won’t. Because you cowered. Cowering to the Orange Mad King is a losing bet. It’s a losing bet every time.

Sad. Many people are saying it is very sad, very strongly and powerfully sad.

Nice stab at concession Moscow Mitch. There’s still a stack of bills the House passed sitting on your desk, BTW.

Any move Mitch EVER makes is predicated on power. He sees DJT bleeding and strikes. Not for redemption, but to claim the power he will soon completely lose.

I’ll give him credit for accepting reality.

I hope he dies as minority leader.

And why make a speech AFTER Senate objections to the Electoral College certifications? Great timing there, Mitch!

Lame, definitely. But I’m not sure about the duck part.
