McConnell Expected To Deliver Speech Rebuking GOP’s Anti-Democratic Charade | Talking Points Memo

Wonder if the Democratic wins in Georgia had anything to do with this announcement. Wonder if McTurdle waited until the results were in to decide to eke out something resembling leadership.

Wonder if McTurdle likes the taste of crow.

Wonder, wonder. But this morning we know that the Senate will begin to function as a body again, and that’s wonder-ful.

It’s a great morning. Ahhhhhh…

Future Senate Minority Leader would be a nice touch.

However, he will still maintain he Majority Leader status until Warnoff and Ossoff are sworn in. At a minimum, it looks like that might be through Biden’s inauguration:

When will the election be certified?

Georgia counties will have until Jan. 15 to certify results. Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, has until Jan. 22 to certify statewide results. But there could be court fights or moves by officials across Georgia’s 159 counties that draw the races out to the buzzer.

If the GOP pull a PA State Senate move and refuse to seat Warnoff and/or Ossoff, it might be much longer (and likely involving the courts).

A reminder of how things work in the USA:

50 Democratic Senators represent 40 million more Americans than the 50 Republican Senators.

The numbers in the greatest democracy in the world aren’t likely to improve any time soon.

By 2040 two-thirds of Americans are expected to be represented by just 30% of the Senate, as the Washington Post noted a couple of years back.

C’mon folks, the proper etiquette is to acknowledge his stand and give him some props.

Now, now-- this is a good day for us. Try to think happy thoughts for now and hold back on the death wishes until, I don’t know… next week, maybe.

What are the odds he will blame his Leadership loss on all the stupid donnie circus crap.

While I’m sure that some of the antics did affect GA voters, I just wonder if McTurtle will use it as his primary excuse.

"But Republicans’ double defeat in Georgia means McConnell will begin that term as minority, rather than majority, leader — an outcome he has been trying desperately to avoid since it became clear that President Trump lost reelection and that Senate control would be decided in Georgia. "

Remember, the SOB will still be there in 2022, and 2024. He doesn’t stand for reelection until 2026.
Expect him to engage in maximum fuckery.
