McCarthy Leaves Door Open To Cheney Critics As GOP Forms Circular Firing Squad | Talking Points Memo

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) is doing little to shield Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) from the drumbeat of Republican retribution for her impeachment vote.

" and calls her a “neoconservative” whose views are out of touch." Mollie Hemingway (Who is she and why is she so “smart?”)

Better than being a fucking fascist.

Cheney has so far remained unbowed, telling reporters that she’s “not going anywhere” and calling her yes vote one of “conscience.”

I think I found the problem.

It would be nice to see a faction of the GOP split off completely, if only for a while.

I guess the fact that Trump called her out by name during his inflammatory insurrection speech just doesn’t matter.

They will be fine. It is how they operate and they know
There base well.

Nice pic of McCarthy. Maybe some of the Trump untouchables can find work doing TV ads for Excedrin.

I can only hope that all members of the circular firing squad are accurate and pull their triggers at the exact same instant.

Doesn’t anybody remember that they’re all family in the Republican Party anymore?

Matt “DUI” Gaetz, Kevin “Idiocracy” McCarthy, Gym Jordan, and Andy “Sedition” Biggs all supported Trump’s incitement of a violent putsch to steal the presidency. All 4 need to resign. They hate our Constitution and freedom.

He didn’t run, because he’s basically a carpetbagger.

The 2000’s called and want their neoconservatives back. Remember when they were the heart, soul and future of the Republican Party. From W. Bush, Cheney as well as their intellectual masters at the Weekly Standard and NR. Now they’re barely even welcome in the party due to their manifest failures providing for the rise of Trump.

It’s cold comfort to be supported by Dan Crenshaw, but in the GOP conference, you don’t have many options, especially if you’re hoping for decency.
And @inversion he would be a carpetbagger anywhere he ran. Perhaps they should call it the Carpetbagger Party instead of Patriot party.

The Republican party civil war is going to be nasty, and the fallout is not going to be good for the American people. It’s pretty clear that the crazy element is also violent, and that’s going to scare a lot of the politicians (it already has). The drawback is that the people are going to have a choice between a reasonable Democrat and some nut in more and more races…and it’s not clear that people will chose the reasonable Democrat because they won’t have an R after their name.

We have to make sure that the Democrats work hard at 2022 and keep power, if Republicans get the power back then not enough will have changed to make a big difference and we’ll once again have people who are happy with violence against Democrats holding power.
