After a bruising few days and a gauntlet of failed votes, Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) finally became speaker of the House just after midnight on Saturday.

The fact that this came about because the crazies want to crash the world economy by US debt default is really laying out the framework for the failure of the Republican party. If they really do it, there will be no question who did it and why, and the results will be staggering. And, it won’t be something they can blame on Biden, it will be absolutely clear, very quickly, what happened, even to the most uninformed voter.

And, maybe that is what it will take to get people to understand that 10% or more of Republicans are willing to burn it all down, and the rest will just go along. It’s a hard way to learn the lesson, most here don’t need to, but it may be required in order to finally put an end to the power these jerks have over the Republican party.

And, let’s also note that these are the same yahoos who are completely onboard with overthrowing the Biden administration and installing a dictator, regardless of how our democracy works. They just are the worst people, doing the worst things…maybe their visibility this week, and going forward, will finally put them out of our misery.

There are many centrist GOPers and those who reside in Biden-friendly environs who are not the people who gave McCarthy a shakedown for appeasement.

That must be remembered. They will not follow what McCarthy is offering.

McCarthy is actually in a more weakened position than either groups of the aforementioned individuals. People like McCarthy are public servants…but the public serves them not the other way around.

Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi will go down as the first Female Speaker of the House and one of the most effective Speakers since Sam Rayburn.

Congressman Kevin McCarthy will go down as the House of Representatives first SPINO.

McCarthy agreed to a demand by hardliners that any lawmaker be able call for his removal at any time. That will sharply cut the power he will hold when trying to pass legislation on critical issues including funding the government, addressing the nation’s looming debt ceiling and other crises that may arise.

It’s been chilling to watch Matt Gaetz accumulate power through all of this. He just went from fringe insurrectionist, lucky to escape charges for sex trafficking, to kingmaker on the Republican side.

He wanted the slot…and now he owns the infamy for what he had to do to get it.

It pays to be the pivot point. Everybody learned from John McCain. And Manchin after that, now Gaetz.

Let’s see how many of his promises he breaks and how quickly and who he’ll blame.

I’m betting all of them, by the end of next week and obstructionist anti-American Democrats.
